Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

BFB and people who litter!

the sad old dog with no friends
So I am not a very regular poster here, probably consider myself more of a gleaner of information, some may like to call me a lurker, be that as it may, I am compelled to write this. So today I had had enough of sitting around wallowing in my own corpulence, and I decided to get out and fish a little. Long story short I got skunked, fished at the spot that Corndog posted pics of last week, not because he told me where it was, but because I have caught fish there before...I got skunked! Walked up to "The Petting Zoo" - which has drastically changed since the last time I was there- and fished my way down to my truck ....skunked. Just not my day fishing, but, that brings me to my reason for writing. In the course of walking maybe a sum total of 2 tenths of a mile I picked up 150 shotgun shells, and I kept track because I carried them out to throw them away. Now I don't know what the proper ettiquiette is when you are hunting, as I am not a hunter. But I think we are all outdoorsmen, and women, and we do what we do outside because of our collective love for being outdoors. So I guess what I am asking is why leave that S@#T all over the forest floor? I consider that to be my backyard of sorts, and I know for a fact I wouldn't come to anyones' backyard whether isit was his or her home or somewhere other than my normal fishing grounds and leave garbage of any type( and I didn't just collect spent shells, but a ton of leader material in parking areas coffee cups, cigarette packs and other S#$T in the parking areas and along the stream bank)! It is stuff like this that turns a nice area like the
Flatbrook into crap! This is just my two cents, I am sorry if I offend anyone but I feel really strongly about this. Thanks for letting me vent.

It's true what you are saying. I've seen a lot of empty bait cups in the fly only area and it pretty sad. Even if people do sneak into the area they could at least take there junk with them.

Thank you for bringing this up when i fish my spot on the south branch im always finding empty beer bottles cans tins of corn worm containers etc and it irks the shit outta me to no end but i guess if they are doing it in a place that they, we ,whoever call a place of solitude can you imagine what their back yards look like. so i just grind my teeth and pick it up dont get me wrong i am by no means perfect but i dont shit where i eat sleep or fish

As someone who was an avid bird hunter, I always picked up my spent shells as a matter of habbit. Unfortunately, "opening days" and any type of "stocking" days brings out some people who fish or hunt just a few times a year and do not take the resource seriously. This minority does a lot of harm not just to the pristine areas that they come to, but also to the reputation of outdoorsmen and the willingness of landowners to allow the public on their property.

It is not just the BFB that suffers from those people....

The Salmon River is seeing it's fair share of polluters. I took this photo only yesterday.

Centre pinners leave their scent behind.

Yes, centre pinners should be banned from all rivers
and streams for the good of all mankind and future fanatics.

KNewb, I know exactly how you feel. I was hunting with a buddy up there and was disgusted at how many spent shells I came upon. I stuck them in my game vest and had a hell of a **** at the end of the day. Unfortunately we didn't get to fire any shots in the field but in the event, my over/under doesn't auto eject shells and I always stick them in my vest.

As I am sitting at my computer to type out my thanks for the positive responses, I am hearing shotguns go off somewhere outside my window....are they leaving their shells lay too? Anyway, as I sat through the site outage, I wondered what kind of response I would get to the ravings of an angry fisherman...I am happy to see that we all feel the same way! Thanks again for listening to me and my diarrhea mouth, and if you are on the BFB, maybe you could pick up someone else's shit when they are too freakin lazy to do so!

I was there Sun(no fish). As usual, after I finished my coffee I stashed my cup in my vest pouch. When I got back to my truck my cup had fallen out. Sh*%! I knew the Karma Police were gonna get me. Then I see this thread. I can't help but think it's all about me and my cup.

If anyone picks up a DD cup at the river, Thank you!
I think I'm gonna bring a garbage bag w/ me next time to pick up some crap and clean up the bad vibes.

A double-D cup... you'll start a stampede of guy's up to the river to find .... you know.

In the water you can rest assured that it will have plenty of buoyancy going for .... you know.

Bad karma on your part for letting go....
