Rules and Scoring:

All anglers will assemble at Catskill Flies for registration and group start time of 8:31 a.m. (All anglers will start out from the shop and then proceed to any spot on the waters as listed above.)

The "One - Fly Challenge" :
Anglers will fish the Challenge in 2 man teams.
Each Angler will "pick" his partner's "One - Fly" pattern.
Example: If a "Team" consists of Theodore Gordon and Richard Petty, then Ted gets to pick the Challenge Pattern that Richard will use and likewise Richard gets to pick the pattern that Teddy will use.
(It may be store bought or tied by the participants themselves, doesn't make a difference.)

Team members "CANNOT" fish the same pattern.

Each Angler is limited to the use of just "ONE" actual fly.

This will be the only fly that may be fished in the Challenge. Should you "LOSE" this fly during the Challenge hours, your "Fishing" participation in the Challenge also ends at that time. You are still in the Challenge but you cannot "ADD" to your score, whatever score you had "PRIOR" to losing the fly, will be your final score. So be careful!

Anglers must also fish together.

TEAMS will be put together, based on scientific and dumb-ass criteria.
You may seek/select a team-mate and establish your team by posting in these forums.
Example you may submit the following post:
"Eager and experienced angler seeks fishing companion for a rental of 3 1/2 hours in early October. Must be able to pick a winning fly pattern."

If you are unable to find a team mate prior to the event, we will provide one at registration. So no excuses for not entering, you hear?

Also please try to come up with a "Team Name"!

I know sometimes people may feel awkward fishing with someone they don't know. Please don't let this keep you away from the event.

Please remember this event is about having fun, so let's all smile!

Scoring:
Scoring will be on a 1 point "per fish" basis.
There will be no points awarded for size of fish.
Only Brook, Brown or Rainbow Trout may be scored.
Tie Breaker:
Since the possibility of a tie is very possible, the following tie - break shall be in effect.:
"All anglers will receive a card, on which, they will be asked to record the time that they caught their 1st fish.
During registration a "secret time" shall be written down on a card and placed in a sealed envelope before the contest begins. The "secret time" will be an arbitrary time selected from the Challenge time span (8:31 a.m to 12 noon) to break the tie, the anglers with the closest 1st fish time to the "secret time" will be declared the winner.
"ALL SCORING WILL BE ON A HONOR BASIS" remember this is a "Gentleman's Sport"

All "SCORECARDS" will be submitted at the "One - Fly Challenge Lunch Celebration" where the Challenge Winner will be announced.

The Winner's names and the fly patterns will be placed on the
"One - Fly Challenge Perpetual Trophy" which will be publicly displayed at Catskill Flies Fly Shop during the coming year!

I would enjoy competing in this contest but I have obligations that weekend but I will be on the river....Good Luck to the contestants!!

Gee, if this pair fished together where do you think Teddy would get his tying materials from?
