Internet access at my place got banned a few weeks ago when work got slow and surfing picked up. Only certain people have access and fortunately one is a very close friend. I use her password. I just need to keep my searches to my web mail and weather instead of NEFF, NJTROUT and PA Anglers!

well two things:
(1) it's not worth losing a job just to be able to browse fishing web sites... but
if you really really want to then you look into what are called
(2) p2p applications (ares is one), my son uses it at home to drive me NUTS
some corporate firewalls block them, so don't as they are difficult to shut down.
it's up to you... when my work bans a site, I just give it up... no need to be irresponsible.

Sib, there are a few things you can do. Take some or all of the advise offered above. Use Anonymizer.com, www.the-cloak.com, www.anonymization.net, www.pcmesh.com, etc...
Also, I actually use Terminal services at home. It's just a service... You enable it and you can access your PC from anywhere without having to access your computer through another website.

hey sig, did you try terminal services like Dennis suggested? I think that is a service you set up where you connect to your home pc, and then it connects out. remember, any packets that originate from your work pc, to the banned destination pc, will go through the work router/firewalls and obviously are being blocked.
a peer-to-peer connection allows you to connect using "open" ports (such as port 80) and then connect from that server peer out on ANOTHER network using a different (non-work) router/firewall and hence could allow you to communicate.
but having said all that, just don't push it and lose your job... all kidding aside!
