Baby swan fly

mudbug201

loose loops, sink tips
Serious question. Are any of you tiers weird enough to tie me up a fly that looks like a baby swan?

LU I'm looking in your general direction. You devised the alpaca emerger and the ear hair nymph if memory serves...

Below is a picture for reference. The fly would have to float and look realistic from below. Not sure how you would deal with the feet.

I'll send anybody the price of materials plus $20 for your time. More importantly, I'll name the fly after you, and when my brother in law catches his first 40" pike with it and posts it on facebook, your pattern will become instantly famous in English pike fishing circles.

I would guess spinning and trimming deer hair would work, I am no good at that, ask SSA......WTF was the ear hair nymph, not I sir.....

That guy who does the hummingbirds and the bass plugs could probably help you, but I bet it would be more than $20 bucks ya' cheap bastard!!:)

Who are you calling a bastard?! :)

I'd go higher than $20, but I don't know this bass plugger of which you speak.

(had to make sure to get that "b" in there - avoid any misunderstandings. #snugglemouth)

FIN-ITE? You're like a pike-whisperer and shit. Any interest in seeing if the pikes will hit a dead-drifted baby swan fly fished toward the rear of an actual swan family, like the straggling runt of the litter?

Use a rubber ducky.

Decorate it and attach a hook.

It'll float for sure...

While I'm at it, why not marinate my dry flies in garlic flavored Powerbait?:)

I think you might be missing the point. That would be like using plastic beads rather than feathers and fur to imitate salmon roe. Only a subhuman life form would even think of doing something like that. My brother-in-law is a fly fisherman, not a slinger of plastic bath toys.

You're a celebrity fly tier and author. Up for the challenge? You're not allowed to use leaves and sticks.

I actually was thinking of pegging, not of the wikipedia sort of pegging, but more like bass plugging....

Pegging a hook a few inches from the ducky...

I was thinking maybe 5 or 6 large bags of Trout Hunter cdc in light dun. Just can't figure how to attach all that to a Partridge Ad Swier Pike hook in 8/0.

You're the man.:)

If you can pull it off, I'll throw in a drift boat ride down the lower EB later this spring.

(disclaimers: it's not a nice boat. I don't really know how to row it. you may have to bail water between casts.)

Hey MudBug...my good friend Dennis over at OMF in PA can do it. He ties some of the nicest mouse patterns I've ever seen. He is going to work on it Sunday and keep me posted. I told him to check the forum out. Can't wait to see it. Should be impressive.

Matty you're alright. I'm sorry I insulted your state record trout a while back.:)

Keep me posted.
