Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

1st Annual NEFF Steelhead BASH!

Kind of wishing I didn't sell the drift boat last summer........

I have just got confirmation "artie" will be joinging us. I fished with him all last spring and he is a great guy! Only a few more short months boys!!!

Simms, I will be up there all winter on the weekends anyway so Im down. Oh, I saw you in Wilmington a month or so ago, I was having dinner with Ryan R.

The fishing can be good in Sept- Oct but my most enjoyable days have come in Now. More fish, less people. Bring on the cold!

I'm looking forward to meeting you, Twism.

As we both run unsuccessful websites, we have lots in common and will have plenty to talk about.

I feel sorry for those that measure success in numbers and money, you will always be disappointed...... Keep it on topic.

Thank you D. However, I'm failing to see where AK SKIM appointed you as roster bitch? Ak is going to be mighty mad you took his job. :)

Sorry for falling out of ranks, but me & Skim are cool like that. Looking forward towards this event.

hehehe :)

Screaming reel? Did you finally hook into one of those fiesty rock fish? Normally my rock fish fights end up in a busted tippet and another intruder prey to the bottom :)

Cant wait Allen, it will be a blast!!!!

The weather pattern, or I should say the severe weather patterns for the area start to the west of Pulaski out over the lake.

Go 1/2 hour south of Pulaski and it will be nice, while in Pulaski you are in the clutches of a winter storm.

Skim,

You are right.. However, Pulaski itself gets only about a 1/4 of the snowfall compared to Altmar and Redfield, a mere 8 miles to the east...Its truly spectacular up there in the winter...

OK GUYS!

Dennis and I spoke about this and we agreed, as previously stated, a pot luck style dinner/lunch will be best. I assume most will be there Friday night and all day saturday and atleast the morning of Sunday.

I will do breakfast for all three days. I make a KILLLLLLER breakfast caserole. Orange juice will also be provided. I will also make a dish for lunch/dinner. However, were gonna need everyone to bring a dish to cover lunch/dinner for Friday/Sat/ and perhaps lunch on Sunday. With a good number of us going, it should not be hard.

PLease PM what you will like to bring and I will begin a microsoft word document. Easy stuff is burgers/dogs/rolls/etc, you know the drill... BYOB. I will also have a case or 2 of water for hydration before the Nantucket Nectar begins flowing. One could also indulge in the sweet gerardia ridden water of the Salmon River, however I would reccomend some paper towels as beaver fever is a bitch streamside ;)

Ok guys, here is yet another update. It is imperative I continue stoking this thread not only to keep it TTT, but to keep it TTT in your domes as well J
I will recap what this event what will look like, so if you have yet to read the previous posts, look no further, it will all be right here. Relax, grab a beer, and read J
The 1st Annual Steelhead Bash will be held from Friday the 11th through Sunday the 13th. I scheduled it like this due to the fact most will have off on Friday due to Veterans Day so this will be a great opportunity to sneak up early and grace your feather sticks with some chrome action before the masses arrive. On the other hand, this day (Friday) should be a great time to get the honey-do-list done so you CAN come on Saturday and Sunday. Either way, it’s a win-win.
MEETING TIMES!<O:p</O:p
First and foremost, there is nothing worse than arriving at an event and hunting people down. It makes you want to pack up and leave. I myself will be arriving 430am on Friday morning and launching the steelhead hustler. A good meeting place would be at Dennis’s at 5:30am (I hope you don’t mind Dennis, J ). This provides a central locale, as you would have the option to head up or down. I can only take 1 passenger. However, regarding the rest of the gang, I will direct those to areas in which fish are being caught (depending on water levels). I will have floated the river a dozen times prior to this event, so being able to successfully direct you folks will be easy. (knock on wood, hehe) What is beautiful about this time of year is fish are spread TOP TO BOTTOM, with fresh fish coming in daily. Chrome/browns are also in all types of water still. Anyway, more on fishing techniques at a later date.
Dennis will need to chime in here and provide directions once in Stoney’s Campground to his lodge. We will be doing lunch and dinner at Dennis’s place, as he has the perfect setup, a canopy! Lunch will be at 12:00pm sharp. This makes it easy. SO, those of you who are bringing the burgers and dogs, make sure you’re not late ;)
Dinner will be at 430-500pm, as sunset is 447pm on Friday the 11th… Dark will quickly descend on us, however I am sure Dennis has some sort of lighting. Regardless, the fire will be going, beers will be tilted, and the grills will be going. Dark or not, were going to EAT and have a good time! Having lunch and dinner times set in stone makes planning the day easier.
Breakfast will be held at 5:30am on Friday/Saturday/Sunday and I will take care of the breakfast. Get ready for the best casserole in your LIFE! I will also provide the OJ! Can NOT start the day without OJ! While you might think 5:30am is a bit early, it is not as we all know how much we all like to bullshit. So by the time we eat, shoot the sheet, and direct folks to fishing spots, prime fishing time will be quickly upon us! You’re lucky ya’ll will not be at camp for Columbus Day. I have everyone up at 4:00am J
So, those of you arriving in between times of breakfast/lunch/ or dinner, just find some water and fish. Before I leave, I will post a list of areas in which is seeing the best action. Again, there are fish ALL OVER in November so locating fish will not be a problem.
FOOD!<O:p</O:p
Again, I am going to need you all to pony up and PM ME what you will bring. We will also need paper goods. So, instead of someone bringing a dish, I would ask one person to volunteer to bring the paper goods, I.E. plates/bowls/napkins/utensils/SOLO cups/ and a package of paper towels. BJ’s/Costco/Sam’s club can be visited and this stuff purchased for cheap J
As far as main courses for lunch/dinner, I would recommend burgers/dogs/chili etc. ANYTHING that can be thrown on the grill and be heated without much preparation. We need to expect the worst. Therefore, I would not recommend anything that will take hours to prepare and cook in case the skies open up with RAIN or SNOW. I sure don’t want to be standing near a grill, away from the comradery, slaving away to the dish. A “set it and forget it” theme would be wise to follow. I would also ask those bringing a dish in which a condiment is normally used, is to bring that too. It will just make everything easier.
I will bring a few cases of water, however any other beverages such as BEER will be on a BYOB basis.
I would think its self explanatory that those bringing food in which need to stay chilled, will also bring coolers. We should have plenty of room for the beer ;)
SO PLEASE, PM and let me know what you are bringing!
<O:p</O:p
DRIFT BOATS!<O:p</O:p
I am going to need who will be bringing drift boat/catacrafts capable of handling more than the oarsman. Depending on what reports are from the locals/websites as well as ME, the drifts will take place from Altmar-Pineville or Pineville-2a (Compactor/Portly Angler). I will also construct a spread sheet as to who will be floating and when. I will conduct 5 floats. 2 on Friday, 2 on Saturday, and 1 on Sunday morning, concluding with lunch.
So, those of you who are bringing a boat and those of you who WANT to float, PM ME! Sounds silly, but it’s a first come first serve basis as boats are limited. I will need to keep 1 slot open for CARBLE, as he wants to take pictures or some shit like that from the helm. J
THANK YOU!
<O:pThank you gentlemen! I look forward to your PMs and I absolutely can not wait to go!!! <O:p</O:p
Hopefully by the end of this weekend I can post the spread sheets as to who is bringing what and who will be floating. TIGHT LINES!
Stay tuned for fishing techniques depending on what water we encounter/ fly selection/ how to read “winter” water and were fish will be!
TIGHT WRAPS!

Not to be the lone ranger here, but I will probably be at the Salmon Heaven lodge a few days in advance and through the weekend. As for food, beer, etc. I will just be visiting the local places for my meals or being cheap and eating a bunch of pre-packed sandwiches..... Ill see ya on the river!

C'mon boys! I have only received one PM! STEELHEAD are in 200feet of water! THEY ARE CLOSE!!!

Hey, I am looking for lodging recommendations for this event. I am not too picky, just something close by that doesn't cost too much. For one or possibly 2 people tops.

Cannons Place or Brendas. One of the cheaper places around, located on County Rt 48. Fine rooms. I stay there all winter for steelheading/snowmobiling...Their prices drop after mud shark season.
