Looking for a good fishing book

The Travers Corners Series by Scott Waldie are great. Pale Morning Done by Jeff Hull is an awesome read.

    Smallie help!!

Both the NB and SB have great smallie fishing all along their lengths. Best bet to get good coverage is via canoe.

    little leigh today

"If anyone knows the secret please pass it along. " My secret to the LL is: 1) Tie on a pink san juan worm with a #6 split shot 2) Cast it in clear slow water where you can see the fish and let it sink to the bottom 3) Watch the trout swim around and eventually nose it up and set the hook...

South Eastern PA over Thanksgiving - Any help?

Valley Creek within the park is beautiful but IMO is a waste of time. I've fished there a few times over the last 2 year and caught nothing but a 3" brownie. I think a lot of the fish got flushed 2 summers ago when we have flooding from Ivan and other tropical storms. Kidfromnujay may...

South Eastern PA over Thanksgiving - Any help?

Hey Kev, I've been offline so thanks for responding on this one. How was Vegas? Anyway, anyone who fishes the Tully should stay away from the section just below the dam. It was essentially devoid of fish last time I was there. Better to fish the section closer to Rt 222. The big bow I...

    Katrina may come our way

Too far out to tell at this point...a couple of factors that are in play here: 1) The forcasters keep moving her more west. This morning landfall was well into the FL panhandle. Now it looks like eastern LA. If this strengthens to Cat 4 or higher and hits NOrleans, watch out. 2) Once it...

    wet flies

Just to add to the recent posts, it's important to keep in mind that unless trout are actively cruising for food, they will remain pretty tight to their feeding lies. For that reason, it's critical to learn to read the water to know where trout typically hold. Once this is done, a searching...

    Smallmouths in NJ

I live a few miles from Duke Island Park and know the SBR in that area well. Some of the water is devoid of fish. Look for downed trees and other structure. That's where most of the smallies are holed up. If you take River Road west from Dukes towards Neshanic, you'll end up at a closed...

    Farm Pond Smallmouths

Caught a nice 17" smallie on the SBR last weekend near me in Hillsborough. I was wet wading in about 4 feet of water casting just about my limit to the far side of the river and he it on what was going to be my last drift past a downed tree. Thought it was a snag until the line started moving...

    Poison Ivy while fishing!!!!!

Try oral diphenhydramine (benadryl) or topical hydrocortisone (1%). If it's really bad over a large area, go see your doctors. They can give you oral steroids. Calamine is pretty much useless.

    Streams closer to home

Mike, Rt 31 isn't that bad in the PM until after you get north of Rt 78 and even that isn't much of an issue because you can cut off onto Cregar Rd into High Bridge and then you're at the KLG in a few minutes. There's the Mulhockoway off of exit 12 on Rt 78 that might be an option. If you...

    French Creek Help

Check the USGS streamflow for French Creek before you go. It floods easily and any rain we get tonight and tomorrow will cause problems given the recent high water. If you go and the water is clear enough, use tan or green caddis larvae imitations in size 16 or 18. Dead drift them with or...

    The first aid kit etc.

Chris, Re the accident when you were 18. Don't beat yourself up. If they were that bad, you probably wouldn't have been able to do anything even with the items in your kit below. Dave
