Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
It's nice to get some good news about the Squannie, Nissitissit, and Millers. Man, if I had to pick one river which could handle a drought the best, it would either be the millers or the swift. When they stock the millers, I hope they stock it with just browns and a couple brookies mixed in. I...
This is complete nonsense!!! This spring we were worried about houses getting flooded and now we are in the midst of arguably the biggest drought this century so far. If I could pick, it would definitely be rain, but mother nature is back at it again, destroying the MASS trout population. The...
Smart choice to move to the cooler and more oxygenated river(s). Right now the Farmy and the Swift are pretty much the only streams in Southern NE constantly producing healthy trout. Let's hope mother nature gives us rain and cooler weather.
Yeah, that sounds outstanding. If the westfield comes on and fishes well, than it's gonna be tough to decide. Right now, any fly fisher in new england would be out of their mind if they did not go to the farmington. Either place would probably be incredible.
Yeah the Westfield sounds good. Unfortanetly, I'm not around to go until Mother's Day, which really realy sucks. On the bright side, when I can go, I'll be happy to go with ya. The fishing will probably be a little better by then anyway.
Alright, we're about to have some awesome weather and great fishing. I'm wanting to go to a good sized trout river, and I've narrowed my decision down to three:the Millers River, the EB of the Westfield, or the Farmington River in Connecticut. Where have you guys been having success? The reason...
I fished in the pocket water right near river road. I LOVE the oxbow when Trout Brook joins the river. On a warm summer day there's nothing better than hiking up a cool water mountain stream and catching wild fish. Gonna see when my next trip is gonna be. Thinking about the Willimantic in...
Oh boy! I AM READY! Cabin fever is finally over. The hatches are coming and the stocking trucks are at the bridges. I don't care about the bait guys, they are who they are. But man, the fishing is about to get pretty good, especially on southern new england streams. I'm looking to hit the...
The Quinnie is actually a decent stream. Fished it last week with good action. Don't take it the wrong way, this river is good. It is pretty small compared to my favorite larger streams, but it'll do.
Orvis battenkill reels are always great (I like the gold color). If you can't pay that high, than any Lamson reel is a good one. It's really a matter of personal preference, go to the fly shop and try them out.
Hey Simms it turns out that it's too long of a drive for me because it will interfere my "family issues". I'M PISSED. Have to opt for a local stream like the Wood River or something else in my area. Unless we can find a spot closer to RI, I think we're just gonna have to plan for another...
Hey Simms, I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I may not be able to go on Sunday. Right now it's a big MAYBE, it's 50/50. If I can't go on Sunday, I'm around on Thursday, which may actually be better because the water will be even lower and the stockies will have gotten a feel for things. Also...
GREAT story man! You're so lucky that you caught a WILD 19 incher. I'm jealous.......... I don't care what people say about pictures, who cares? Sweet fish man.
