Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

What's Been Hot Lately?

Alright, we're about to have some awesome weather and great fishing. I'm wanting to go to a good sized trout river, and I've narrowed my decision down to three:the Millers River, the EB of the Westfield, or the Farmington River in Connecticut. Where have you guys been having success? The reason I want to hit a big river is because I got this SWEET fly rod over the winter, and I really want to use it. Any reports/comments/suggestions would be great.

Millers has only been stocked once this season in the C&R area. Wesfield has gotten it more. Can't speak on behalf of the Farmy.

If your headed to the Westfield Gorge this week/weekend some time, I would most certainly go if you wanted a fishin partner for the day. Never been to there and always here GREAT things!

Yeah the Westfield sounds good. Unfortanetly, I'm not around to go until Mother's Day, which really realy sucks. On the bright side, when I can go, I'll be happy to go with ya. The fishing will probably be a little better by then anyway.

I personally say the farmington is an amazing spot right now I have been out a few times. With a trout stocking of well over 7000 fish 1000 of them being in the 2-3lb range accoridng to the DEP. Check out farmingtonriver.com for hatches but I have been having my luck on hendricksons every day starting around 1245PM. Try the famous church pool and work downstream.

Yeah, that sounds outstanding. If the westfield comes on and fishes well, than it's gonna be tough to decide. Right now, any fly fisher in new england would be out of their mind if they did not go to the farmington. Either place would probably be incredible.

If the state never stocked another trout, there would be enough for the next 5 years to catch.

The only problem is you would probably have to learn how to fly fish.

Forget about the stocking truck and find the trout.
