Verticalscope.com is in the business of buying popular websites, loading them with advertising, and collecting the revenues. One website owner, reported that they offered about 2 to 3 times his current yearly revenue.

A few days ago Sam Samson, their Acquisition Specialist registered at NEFF.

Now, we find out if Dennis' ship finally came in, or if he loves us too much to sell out .....

This site is about free topic posting, and more importantly, everything fly fishing. I think Dennis has put too much time, energy and passion to make the site the ideal site of what he envisioned it being. I don't see him turning it over to a corporation who most likely know little to nothing about the actual content of this site and what has made it successful. This is "just another fly fishing forum".

With GB gone, I don't know why Dennis hasn't shut it down already. He'd take $50 if they gave him a way out of this graveyard...

From the pm's i have received, the buying group is a consortium that was put together by the Golden Beetle, and is willing to pay a 33 percent premium to FMV (fair market value), and is using the same flawed overvalued discount to cash flow valuation methodolgy which was used by wall street prior to the dot com crash which is extremely favorable to DC selling, providing the consortium doesn't retract their generous offer say goodbye to NEFF as we know it.

If Dennis sells out before the NEFF steelhead bash, then all the proceeds from the raffle will go to getting really fucked up, with a couple of those girls trying to pay their way through college hanging out with us, into the wee hours of the morning at Stoney's!!!!!

In my original post I meant to say this is NOT "just another fly fishing forum."

I like Lynch, after DC takes the cash which he would be a fool for not taking, I believe Lynch could create a duplicate site with a different name of course and we can all carry on like nothing happened.

I didn't know DC was in this for the money, but if he does sell, I think you would do a much better job running NEFF2.com than me. He made $116 off google last year, think of all the flies you could buy with that.

Someone reached out to me the other day about making an offer. They didn't actually submit an offer. Instead they asked what I'd be willing to sell it for. I explained that I'm not interested in selling the site and that the site means too much to me to sell. We've been online since 2000 or 2001 and I am somewhat emotionally attached to it.

It took years for everyone to build the site up and I feel the site is a major player in the industry although I don't promote openly as such. The site has been responsible for getting things done, getting the word out, getting stollen equipment back, getting vendor issues taken care of, what else?

There aren't many sites in the region which allows for you to talk about something without being warned or banned but you can typically speak your mind on this site without the fear of being banned. I think if the site was sold, this would be something of the past.

Although we do have a few advertisers, I can honestly say I couldn't even live for a week on what the site has generated in income over the past 5 years. Sure this is my own fault because I don't actively seak advertisers.

So what's a site like this worth? I don't really know. I do know that for me to part with the site, it's going to take quite a bit of cold hard cash to consider it.

There you have it.

Understanding everyones fears, you need to be informed regardless of what happens, DC and I have decided that I will remain in my position as Editor - In - Chief of NEFF. Hopefully this will calm your fears as to what direction any new NEFF ownership will be taking. I am committed to making the transition to new ownership as effortless and seamless as possible and am willing to serve in my present capacity for either the long or short term, only leaving my assignment once DC and I are satisfied that new ownership is up to speed and is in a position to manage NEFF as it has been since inception. In the meantime, all DC and I are asking is that you continue to support NEFF and contribute in the same manner in which you have, thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.

Tightest of Lines,

Trouser Trout

NEFF Editor - In - Chief

This was exactly the same rhetoric used by ENRON. I have it on good information that he just contracted MacFly to solicit us to invest heavily in NEFF stock. Be advised, MacFly was Martha Stewarts investment counsel also. I would advise everyone to dump thier stock.

If the offer's good sell. Money talks....bullshit walks. And from the likes of it around here there are ALOT of walkers.....

hey awhile back i got invited to a wonderful site by the name of classictrout.com run by our very own JB. we could just go there. he'd need to be asked though. great dude. great site.

Dennis I'll give you two dollars and a handjob for the site. Well, beetle will give you the handjob and I'll give you the two dollars. :)

A value on the site?

Let’s see.

All the knowledge and camaraderie on the site (Some value)

All the lame ass pictures of the fish we catch (A few bucks)

The senseless mocking and stupid debates and ball busting on crap none of us are experts on. If we were why would we solving the world’s problems here. (Highly valuable)

A guy hugging a trout (Priceless)

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Denis....I'm all for you making a couple of bucks off the site if possible.

That said, I think those who have provided the intellectual content for the site over the years need to be provided a parachute. I suggest that you revise the site guidelines to provide takeover protection for all registered users. In the event of a change in control and ownership of NEFF, in exchange for our intellectual property and personal registration information, the acquiring company must pay all registered users $1 per post, plus $0.25 per Thanks on those posts and a longevity stipend of $100 per year since initially registering as a user up to the closing date of the deal.

I like that idea.

DC you owe me $10,183.50

Pete you own me $6,827.75 for all the posts of mine you deleted over the years.

The only 3 dollar bill this site has left and has since returned with a new screen name......

Just gotta love the "New" drunken rants.

His wife was out and he was left alone to watch his infant son.

A bottle for the kid, and a bottle for him.

He beats the kid getting tanked first everytime.
