Why do we fish for this beautiful creature?

I fish for trout beause its so amazing the way they can feed on these little flies, the way you see their heads bobbing up and down eating their hatch of the day.

Why do you fish for them?

The Challenge of catching them on a FLY -- Bass hell they eat BUDWEISER CAN LURES -- Too Easy -- Catfish well chicken livers and a fork stick -- etc.etc. I think you get the idea

Peace
Dan

FF for trout is great, it puts me in a state of pure focus and relaxation.

I fish for trout to temporarily forget about the shitty parts of life..

It helps me cleanse my mind and helps me cope with the stress the world endows upon me.

FF for trout is my anti-drug..

Because I can act like an elitist snob and look down my nose at lesser people who just don't understand what it means to be a complete douche bag!!!!!:)

I think the stream environment really is the first thing that got me hooked on trout. Its cool seeing fish in shallow, clear water, and its also cool how u read water current to fish to trout effectively. I also think the puzzle trout fishing presents is a great thing. Other fishing in my experience does not present the same level of technical understanding that trout fishing does. Figuring out the insect, stage, and being able to present that pattern effectively is tough to do, and thats why it doesn't get old. I've actually come to enjoy difficult fishing over the years, and also find myself getting bored on streams where 20 fish a day is the norm. Its all about working for what your catching and confirming that your knowledge, intuition, and skill were enough to trick an animal in its own environment. Lastly, few fish are better looking and more rewarding to look at after a good fight.

Because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful, and hate the environs where crowds of people are found, which are invariably ugly;
Because of all the television commercials, cocktail parties, and assorted social posturing I thus escape;
Because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion;
Because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience;
Because I suspect that men are going along this way for the last time, and I for one don’t want to waste the trip; because mercifully there are no telephones on trout waters;
Because only in the woods can I find solitude without loneliness;
Because bourbon out of an old tin cup always tastes better out there;
Because maybe one day I will catch a mermaid;
And, finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant – and not nearly so much fun

I know its cliche, but many of us were probably inspired into this sport by Norman McClean...

“My father was very sure about certain matters pertaining to the universe. To him all good things-trout as well as eternal salvation-come by grace and grace comes by art and art does not come easy.”

".... our father was a Presbyterian minister and a fly fisherman who tied his own flies and taught others. He told us about Christ's disciples being fishermen, and we were left to assume, as my brother and I did, that all first-class fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly fishermen and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman.”

I can’t say why I why I trout fish. I guess I just love to.
Hell I love it so much I think anyone who chooses not to purchase a fly rod should pay a tax. Come to think of it why not tax everyone who does not own a light saber too.

The government should also tax.
If you are a natural born as an American you should pay a tax. You were born here you should pay.

If you breathe air, why should that be free?

An internet tax ( that one is really coming)

If you talk in a library. (could be called the quiet tax)

I believe your taxes should also be taxed. They could conceivably take all your money with that one.

If you wife complains about you habits (that would produce a substantial amount of revenue)

If someone craps in your drift boat Why not tax that?

If you communicate with space aliens, that should defiantly be taxed

If you take an out of focus or grainy video of Bigfoot, got to tax those blurry pictures.

The white tax. If you are a Caucasian pay up.

If you have multiple penises you should pay a tax (more pleasure more tax)

If you dog humps someone’s leg (someone should pay for that)

Gorpin your own farts, if you like the way they smell you should pay.

Pay a tax if you vote against the liberals, that speaks for itself.

Although the above mentioned are ludicrous. The courts have given the government authority to do what they want as long as it is a tax. Remember that in November.

This post is very taxing......

Besides some of the other posts, I love all the sounds while fishing. The water, birds & quiet. I love the fact that every fish fights different and they all are like little presents from god. You never know what your going to get. Its by far my most favorite activity to do. I just wish I had more time and the season lasted longer.

I agree, until the god part and the season length....I fish all year long for trout.......in fact, I dislike trout season, because of all the people on the river...sure there are more bugs, and the strikes come easier and are more agressively, but trout still gotta eat other times of the year, it may be a bit more challenging, but it is also a bit more rewarding......:thumb:

My favorite time to fish......when the snow just starts falling, and it is quiet....only that quiet that falling snow can bring...you are all alone on the river, except for the Big Blue Heron that out fishes you, it's O.K. he always does, all you hear is the river and the swish-swish of your fly line...it is so peaceful, unless you wear felt....then you fall on your ass in the snow!!!!

This is the only post from you that I agree with and like.

I'm am so happy you are pleased...I will try harder in the future to make sure my posts are in-line with your beliefs and ideals of what fly fishing is and should be....BTW, I have been looking for you at the drive-thru.....don't tell me you do not like Mcy-D's.....:rolleyes:

Wow your even an ass when I say nice. Hmmph should have known better.

I like the way they explode in comparison to bass when an M-80 is lit in their mouth.

why ask why, i think for me its because trout don't live in ugly places, they can really check your ego, and also because they are IMHO the most beautiful of all gamefish.It's so many things an yet its not so many things its all about life an death an the struggle to survive an prosper,I think we as humans that flyfish know it best of all. Hunters too also recognize this also.
