We are not set on this area, but we are looking for a place off the beaten path. We want to do mostly river fly fishing as it doesn’t require any previous knowledge on hot spots. I live in southern CT and work in NYC, so anywhere that I can drive to from this area within 3-5 hours would be preferred. Fly suggestions would be greatly appreciated as well. <o

On another note, fishing in the southern end of the Long Island Sound has been picking up. Caught a 36” striper on my 8 wt. using a 3” light colored deceiver near the structures off of Playland.<o

If your willing to drive a little more then let me please tell you to stay at Crawfords Notch campgrounds with good fly fishing and scenary outside of Conway NH. Been there love it going back, you have the Sacco and swift rivers to fish in, two fly shops nearby both in conway, good places to eat nearby. If you do go stop at Freds spagetti shed and order the four Berry pie for dessert.

I'd say NH, either the White Mountains Nat'l Forest area as Andy B suggested or up to Pittsburg, NH & the famed Upper Connecticut River trout waters. Everything from big, pocket water river fishing to small stream brookies & rainbow. Or for Vermont- the Otter, Mettowee, Winooski, & Lamoille Rivers, and the many streams of the Green Mountains National Forest.

The town of Pittsburg, NH has absolutely no cell phone service and has more moose than people and more miles of unpaved roads than paved. you can fish the tribs, fish the river in remote areas, or hike into trout ponds. Crawfords Notch Campgrounds is tucked away and away from everything. Like Ryan said you will be around Moose, Black Bear and foxes, The hiking trails are massive and challanging depending on what you are looking for. The fly fishing is very good. Either way what Ryan and I have provided will fullfill your weekend camping desire to just get away from it all. Here is the link below for the camp ground>

It may be on the far end of your range but poe paddy state park in pa is awsome. Penns is right there and many other great waters 30 minutes away. Green drakes should be starting along with sulphers caddis and anything else you can think of. I went earlier this year and fell in love. Can't wait to get back:smokelots:
