Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
I suggest you buy GB’s Jack-A-Lope. It is probably the most productive fly ever developed. Trout have been known to cross Oceans to have chance at consuming this wonderful pattern. I have heard a rumor and I do not know how true it is but a fly-fisherman accidently dropped one in the toilet and a trout swam up the sewer pipes and took it.
I'll 2nd the flyshack. The owner started out of a room in his house nearbye where I live. Over the last 5 or so years, they have grown to where they now have a shop in Gloversville. They have one of the larger displays at the Somerset show and their flies are good quality at a very fair price.
I only buy patterns I can't tie yet and it's usually from Shannons and sometimes from Ramsey Outdoors. I've ordered flies online twice when I first started a few years ago from blueflycafe.com
I have always used flies that I tied myself, and somewhat regret it because I have passed up the opportunity to get some tied by those with more talent than myself. When I think of spending time at Darbee's or Dette's in the Catskills and perhaps buying a couple of leaders or some tippet material for the privilege of watching their technique - but I never bought their flies! I have learned my lesson (but still fish with my own flies), and I will buy some samples at the fly shows or from small shops with great local tyers.
