Waders in New Zealand

A Polinger

Just finished a River Runs Through it!
In a few magazines that have articles on New Zealand, the guides look like they dont wear standard waders. To me it looks like wetsuit pants with shorts over it and then wading boots. Can any one shine some light on this for me. What do they use and why. I dont like waders but some times I need to wear them so if this is a diffrent system it might work for me.

Thanks,

AP

The guides you speak of I belive are not wearing ANY waders at all. I belive they are wearing long johns under shorts a common practice of back packers and mounteneres for years. The synthetic long johns protect ones legs etc and also dry quick after wet wading. Best part is that they cost much less when they get torn then 300+ waders.
