To be released November 6 at The Arts of the Angler Show
For Immediate Release September 28, 2010
Livingston Manor, NY Contact: 845-439-4810
The Classic Fly Box is being considered, by many, as a “companion guide” to his first book “Tying Catskill Style-Dry Flies” (Headwater/Stackpole Books). 100 classics, primarily “Catskill-Style” dry flies, but has representation from the Pacific Northwest, down to California, over to Michigan, across to Pennsylvania, up to the Catskills, and over to Ray Bergman territory.
Join Mike as he takes the reader on a tour of the history of the Catskill-style dry fly. From the Abbey to the Yellow Spinner, with 98 other stops in between. Mike explores the popular to the obscure, delving into the history of these marvelous flies, masterfully weaving quotes from Gordon, Cross, the Dettes, Bergman, and other legends with his own personal anecdotes about growing up in the Catskill tying tradition. Fully illustrated with gorgeous color photography and complete with dressing appendix.
Mike will be available at the Arts of the Angler Show, at the Ethan Allen Inn, Danbury CT, on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from noon to 5PM for signing. This is another exciting book for fly tyers and those interested in fly fishing.
Published by Whitefish Press. Softcover $29.95

Thanks for the update on Mikes second book. Mike's first book was truly enjoyable to read and I just loved it. The first book I highly recomended and can't wait to see the second book

Just to add to Flymom's post
Mike and the publishers are donating proceeds of the limited edition signed copies
to the Catskill Fly fishing museum.
Here's the info from Mike.
I can't wait to get my hands on my copy:thumb:

About the LTD hardcover Edition. 100% of the royalties are being donated (by both the publisher and me) to the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum, Livingston Manor New York. Museums are always hungry, and need help.

So, no selfish reason here to post and alert. But there are very few LTDs left (if any), and if you want one the thing to do is contact the publisher to get on their reserve list. It's being handled on a "first cone, first serve" basis. There are only 125 hardcover LTDs, signed and numbered, being printed. (The "trade" edition will be softcover).

Looking at November 1st to come off the presses.

Thanks for supporting the museum...Mike Valla

First, thanks to all for your enormous support in purchasing the "fundraiser" Limited Edition Hardcover. Discretionary money is always tight---I greatly appreciate the fact that so many are helping support a worthy institution with some of your precious dollars. Like was pointed out, all Royalties from the LTD (from both the publisher and yours truly) are being donated to the CFFCM. Your generosity will greatly help the museum.

Getting to the point of this post:. I've been asked by several if copies can be personalized. When you receive your LTD Edition copy, you'll see a special Book Plate, signed and numbered. (There are only 125 LTDs.) If you want it personalized, I'm certainly happy to do so---actually quite honored to do so.. I'll be at the International Tying Show---not tying but here and there Saturday and Sunday. Just grab me.

-Mike V.

Mike,

You're beginning to cost me money now - can't resist your new book. Of course it will be worth it though!
