Tying the Smoke Jumper Midge

Matt Grobert

6/0 Olive Danville
Here's a very good midge pattern you may want to try when the fish are sipping little stuff off the surface this winter, or anytime of the year really, in sizes #16-24.

If you go to the Fly Tying Symposium this weekend, stop by and say hello. I'll have Lighten Up's wild Altantic Salmon on display in a cooler of ice along with his ASSHAT.

Nobody lays a hand on my ASSHAT except my wife......and that is rare these days!!!:)

I don't have sound at work so I didn't get to listen to Tim until I got home....Ya' know, the peacock herl black magic......I just figured out about a week ago.....and now, now, NOW, you make it easy.......Bastards!!!:)
Nice video as always, and I always enjoy the little ditty playing in the background!

That was a cool video.

Matt, would you consider leaving tightlines for GB mag?

Seriously.

I will do the camerawork and the voiceover.

So that is what that smell was. I thought you creating a new scented fly pattern.:)

Thanks and great tie! I only started using CDC a few years ago and it is a great material.

I tied some of these this evening, as I may go fishin' tomorrow.....
Here is a variation I tried....my experience has been that fish take the thread and wire before a quill, but it looks nice...this one is a died green peacock quill, with the rest as per Grobert....size 18, I think....my wing case is a little bigger as well, but...nvm

EXCEPT!!!!! I used Olive Danville...6/0!!!!:)
