Guided today in Ausable Forks area today on WB Ausable.
Sports landed Browns-Bows... 25+ fish with at least same # missed!! with some well past 14" all taken nymphing on # 8 Ausable Ugly on a dead drift. Water temp. 54F at 5.45 AM.

Fish were hitting dries for the past few days, rivers starting to rise due to rains, and unfortunately its supposed to keep raining on and off throughout the weekend into next week.

I think I am heading to the WB of the Ausable tomorrow. I am new to fly fishing, and this will be my first time on this river. Would I be better off bringing my 5wt or 8wt rod?

waters calmed down and it's nice to be able to consistently be able to wade in! Had good luck the past few days on the West Branch. Lost a nice one on a nymph, broke my line. After tossing a number of others with no luck tried a nice big Adams for the heck of it and got a nice big brown. The following day went back and started with dries and caught 2 very nice browns. Wrapped things up on the east branch to catch a few guys for dinner.

Hit it up today and it was gorgeous! Ran all over the west branch, hit tons of fish, some on nymphs then switched to dries and had some fun :hubbahubba:

The water is really nice right now, lots of caddis(tan) coming off, sporadic mayflies (Hendrickson, Sulphurs from what I saw).

The fish I took were on basic searching flies, nothing special!

Anyways, I attached some porn...the plan was to take a few nice shots with the DSLR but I couldnt walk away from the fish!
