There are arguments on both sides of the issue.

I believe the recent Supreme Court decisions support your view, and offer a reasonable interpretation of the Second Amendment that I disagree with...

Not to reignite a year long debate that spans everything from Abram Lincoln to the Patriot act, but I think it worth clarifying the Heller vs DC ruling. The intent of the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Amendment is as it reads for, “A well regulated militia…”. Thus at the time this right was granted to the states to have a well regulated militia to defend themselves against may things including the Federal Government. Now threw out the years threw various acts what was a States Militia slowly became what we have today the National Guard. Since the National Guard can be called up “in time of national emergency” by the Federal Government, the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Amendment is as it was intended nullified. To correct this imbalance in whatever way they could, the supreme court in Heller vs DC made the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] amendment an individuals right to bear arms. With that being said, there are States Defense Forces that act as modern day State Militias, that are completely controlled by the states, but not all states have them.

I removed certain key words:

For all those reasons, the _____ officially recommends against _______ legislation which they call inappropriate.

As an alternative to _______ policies, the _____ recommends a community-based approach to prevent __________. And ultimately, we think that’s a much more promising way to build stronger communities of ______ and ____ owners.
Unfortunately, it wasn't about firearms.
It was about banning and regulating certain breeds of dogs.

It is too bad it wasn't about firearms. That would make too much sense though.

The American people aren't responsible enough to own firearms, and in fact we should collect them all up and send them to the terrorist, I mean "rebels", over in Syria so we can help them out. Oh wait, the government is already arming them.
