Striper fioshing the flats in Wellfleet HArbor

I am staying in a rental next August with direct access to Wellfleet Harbor. I have read that its best to start fly fishing one hour before dead low and try site fishing as the tide starts to come back up

We also will have spinning gear for trying eels at sunset/sunrise.
Doe anyone have any suggestions as to where I might do some fuirther research and get myself educated about this salt water stuff. I have primarily fished fresh water trout streams for the past ten years with little salt experience

I fished the Pamet river inlet which is just north of Wellfleet. It has a narrow breachway with lots of flats. Fish it on the outgoing, especially at night. Clousers, sand eels and some poppers should do the trick

If you want to fish the flats the best way is with a guide/boat, but alternately, take one of the shuttles to the Monomoy Islands and wade fish, maybe 20-30 minutes and not too pricey. Go for the day at a time when the tides are right and bring lunch. Could even bring the kids and leave them on the beach while you fish maybe. Near Chatham and not flats fishing, go to Harding Beach and walk east from the parking area to a canal/inlet or whatever this is called - boat access to Chatham Harbor in any case. But early in the AM when little boat traffic and some current, not a bad place to swing a fly. By the way, good book (that is pricey, but in my opinion worth it) covering MA oriented techniques and flies is "Fly Fishing for Striped Bass" by Rich Murphy.
