Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

SBR stream restoration at the Raritan Inn

Private water, though.

But you can pay me to guide you on it:):):) (sorry, shameless plug)

Never knew
I could move so fast. That is Urbani Fisheries out of Bozeman, MT doing the in-channel restoration work, same contractor I use on the Musky. He's now done projects on the Musky (many), the SBR (1 down and another in Sept.), NBR, Pequest, and beginning Tuesday of next week on the Paulins Kill in the Blairstown area. Joe is the very best out there. His machine operator has been working with him for something like 30 years and Ron (Cowboy Ron to those that know him) only works in rivers. They are a great team and I can't wait to have them do a lot more work here in NJ on both public and private waters.

We like a CAT 324 or 325, preferable with a hydraulic thumb for the boulder work. We don't have one to rent here in NJ with the hydraulic thumb and Foley Caterpillar hasn't built us one yet although they rented our contractor the one machine for nearly 6 months this year alone. We used a smaller 319 that did have the proper thumb for the upper Musky behind the Cliffdale Inn last Feb., but we swapped it out for the bigger 324 when we moved downstream to the middle river to restore 7/10 of a mile in lower Washington across from Hampton Borough.

Yeah, it's like playing with Tonka toys which I enjoyed in my youth:D

And which finger did you point with? Left or right? :)

Let's face it, if I didn't have mad pointing skills, none of this work would have been accomplished:

Because if I didn't have these supervisory skills, you guys would still just be standing in the river wondering what to do.

Here's proof positive:

Who did this restoration?...

Urbani Fisheries out of Bozeman, MT was the contractor. The project was funded with WHIP grant funds via the Farm Bill (mostly, but things like boulders were paid by the club membership). The owner of the Raritan Inn held the grant funds and the DEP permit. Shannon's Fly Shop manages that private water. I brought our funders and my contractor to the table to work with Shannons and the Inn's owner to get the project off the ground. So all of us had a piece of the project. Hope that answers your question(?).
