I heard about it this afternoon on Sirius Radio. They meantioned all of the World Series he did, Super Bowls, All-Star Games, Olympics, NCAA b-Ball Championships and on and on...but honestly, what i remember him most for was the Saturday or Sunday afternoons about this time of year - freezing outside - and I'd be inside by the fireplace watching Curt Gowdy hosting some celebrity hunting ram or bear or fly fishing a Rocky mountain stream or hooking into a sailfish in some tropical waters.
He was one of the sporting voices of my, and many of our, youth.

Gotta start somewhere...
Sorry to hear this news too. I was just talking about watching Curt Gowdy and Ted Williams on weekend TV as a kid while my buddy and I would fight over the Caballas magazine and talk about the latest, "This Happened to Me" article in Outdoor Life. Curt and Ted would get us through the winter until spring fishing season started.
