Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Roscoe/Hancock camping

Thanks. I've never stayed in one before. I love this note:

"The covered bridge at Beaverkill, that connects the camping area to the shower building will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the 2013 camping season. We realize that this is an inconvenience, however the campground will remain open and we will offer customers an alternate detour (approx. 6 miles) to the shower area."

That should keep a lot of people away.

You're right Lefty, that probably will keep a lot of people away!

Just put your waders on over your birthday suit and walk across the Bkill to the showers :)

Mongaup pond campground is also just a few miles away from the Beaverkill site.

there's plenty of good back country camping.Try up Russel Brook and Mud Pond and Trout Pond. You can hike to not too far from a car and set up camp. then a short drive to the beaverkill and EB.

Just make sure they are chest high waders and not hip boots!

I stayed at the beaverkill last year. Sites are a bit close but you are right at the river and the fishing isnt bad. My family used to camp the state lands up by russel brook at least 30 yrs ago. That is the way to go if you want primative. We used to just pitch a tent and the rangers would just check in from time to time. Don't know if you can still do it that way or if you need a permit first. Let me know if you do check it out. I'd be interested in taking my kids there. P.S. my truck broke down in the lot by the covered bridge and the rangers and a few of the campers were a huge help. Great people. There is almost no cell service in that area. I'm seriously considering a sat phone.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
