Change has not only come to Washington but it has come to the fly fishing industry…Unlike Washington, all we really need is a strong Green Drake hatch and some hook jawed brown trout as a stimulus…

I didn’t know the fishing was bad...I guess it is all comparative…If you like that 5:01 stocking day scene, then I guess the fishing is horrible…Damn fish are all spread out and selective…Good Days are right around the corner and the fish will be stacked under the bridge…

Beaverkill Campground closed for 2009<o></o>
<o></o>
This is one cut the anglers should really fight…The Beaverkill Covered Bridge CG is one of the nicest in the region and is one of the only pieces of Public water on the Upper Beaverkill…I haven’t confirmed if the Day Use Area will be closed or if anglers will be restricted from fishing the property but I will inform you as soon as I have more info….It was on this piece of water where my wife caught the catch of her life, when I proposed knee deep in the Beaverkill……Forget what I said. Shut that dump down before some other fool casts away his freedom…
DEC Announces Closure of Six Campgrounds for 2009 - NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation

The Savage is on my list to fish this year. Thinking about a guided trip there.

From the photo I saw, the article you labeled Salmon River Porn should have been called "Salmon River Snuff".

As for the Beaverkill Campground, if people aren't going, they have to do what they have to do. Does closing it mean they don't plan to patrol it? If they are still going to patrol, I don't see why they'd have to close it to angler access.

According to the DEP Region 3 Fisheries Biologist, the river will remain open to anglers but the campground, bathroom & operation facilities will be closed..While that is good news, I think the lack of supervision will lead to trash dumping, vandalism, and poaching...hopefully it will be policed on a regular basis...
