Bristol Bay - brought up by neither candidate. The talk was mainly based around saltwater issues, but did speak of great lakes protection plans and issues. Obama speaks of having been on a trip to MT on the east gallatin but was unable to land a fish. KeepAmericaFishing?

He says he got a few bites. Why not kick it up a notch and call it a "nibble"?

After reading your incoherent post, I don't think you should be allowed to vote.

While I disagree with what you say I will defend, to the death, your right to say it

Nice gesture and I'll bet you think you are quoting Francois-Marie Arouet, AKA (not to be confused with AK) Voltaire. It is actually a biographer of his by the name of Evelyn Beatrice Hall who is responsible for that quote. Nevertheless, my nonsense isn't worth defending or dying for. As NEFF Editor - In - Chief it is important that I know information like this and freely share it with you boobs.

Quite informative. I did not know that you're NEFF's Editor - In - Chief but to be truthful I have not paid much attention to the newspapers as of lately. The luxuries you surely reap from having obtained such an honorable position must be far greater than a plebe such as myself could ever imagine. I do imagine it is nice to have Diplomatic status when travelling abroad.

Hopefully Obama wins.

He had been a great president.

After that, let's hope for 8 years of Hillary.

After that, America will be fixed.

Sure, our national debt will be over $30,000,000,000,000 (that is is 30 trillion $). That will fix everything, you boob......

Reality check...... the chinks can't "call in the debt" it is in the form of treasury bills, bonds and notes which have no call provision, quite frankly they are nuts for pruchasing it because of its unbelievable low interst rate, and the overwhelming amount of our debt is owed to ourselves.

Of the aproximate 15 trilion in national debt that we have, the chinks only own about 8 percent of it. two thirds is owned domestically by either entities of the fed. govt like the social security admin. or individual investors.

TT,
Thanks for the info, i know a lil about money ..but dude yer like light years ahead of me.Although i believe i am correct on the other things i mentioned.

So your saying... America is in debt to itself?? Very interesting..

This is a great thread. The ND is 16 trillion but if you include State County and Local government debt on top of that, it closer to 20. Last year I kept a record of tax expenses that I paid in a spread sheet (Income, sales, property and tax surcharges for energy and telephone.) So I basically calculated “True tax” At the end of the year I hit the summation command in excel and I was astonished. It came to 40% of my gross income. Think about it 40%. I worked from January through May for the Government in some form. There is some irony in these numbers. After you pay the federal and state income tax. You pay the other taxes on income that you have already paid taxes on. So 40% and the government still has massive debt. How much do they actually need 50 60 70% ? At what point does you personal income become irrelevant? No wonder so many Americans are underwater. The banks are not he biggest fleecier of you income they are second #1 go to the Government. I do not think this is what the founders envisioned.

All our economic woes can be blamed on the private bank called the federal reserve that controls out monetary policy. Our country has been hijacked. Well it happened a long time ago, but we damn sure aint at the wheel.

The national debt really isn't the major financial catastrophe facing our country. It's the unfunded obligations for our entitlement programs needed to fund the retiring baby boomer population over the next 20 years. The estimates range from 60-70 trillion dollars owed and not one dime of it in the bank. In fact the bank is already empty and filled with IOUs. This brings us to a harsh reality and it's one no one wants to admit to on tbe left. Entitlements as we know it will have to be changed. Government will have to cut spending, and eventually taxes will be raised on everyone. Have a nice weekend.

I posted this before Mitt stated that the small businesses man is paying 50% of this income in taxes. Last year the federal government received $6,418,934,570,000 in tax revenue for 2011 ( IRS website for data) and still needed to borrow 1,000,000,000,000 That Is 16.7% more then they take in.
This is a huge problem.
So we would all have to pay 17% more taxes to remove the deficit just to the federal government. This does not include state, county and local.
I don’t know about you but I can not afford that.

Not sure about the fiscal prudency of raising taxes to increase revenue. Cutting taxes has also proven to increase tax revenue by stimulating growth and creating more taxable dollars.

You and I both know that the level of on book and off book debt means we can't grow our way out of this alone. Clearly not stating taxes should be raised yet but they will need to be raised if we are serious about paying off the debt. Now the question remains will the govt use those taxes to retire debt or just spend it.

Their record would suggests the latter.:blackeye:

But, we can't tax our way to prosperity either.

No we can't but let's be realistic. We are a long way from prosperity.we need to get the economy going, then cut spending then raise taxes when the convoy is stable. Trust me I'm the last guy that wants my taxes raised I just hope we can stabilize things enough to address the larger debt issue.

Mac, we have a spending problem not a revenue problem. We collect too much in taxes as it is. Damn that is one pretty trout......

That's a party line TT. I'm really only interested in solving a problem. In this case a massive one. The kind of growth needed to bring n enough revenue to retire the debt would be abnormal in the range of 5-7% growth over a sustained period of time. As said we need to cut spending and get the economy going ASAp but to deal with long term structural debt taxes will go up. This assumes we an do the first 2 things which is going to be a challenge.

Mac, We already have the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world, the top 10 percent of earners already pay 71 percent of the federal tax. Who exactly should be paying more tax? We spend too much, we don't collect too little, the party line happens to be right this time. I think you are suffering from avatar envy. Entitlement programs account for 62 percent of the national budget, they have all grown in ways never originally intended, cut entitlements and fix the problem. We can also deport everyone who is here illegaly. Estimates are around 15 million people, who are a complete drain on they system. I get a good laugh at the obama administration's reluctance to enforce the the US constitution in this case. All persons who hold nationally elected office swear to uphold the laws of the US and the constitution, instead this boob fights them. The modern day democrat looks at the US constitution as a document to be worked around, rather than a document to be worked within. Which brings me to another point, since we know the federal govenment is abysmal at running programs as evidenced by their track record, why would anyone think they have the ability to manage health care?

Well everyone will have to pay more taxes. That's a given. I think broadening the base is a must. Clearly we spend too much and as I said spending cuts across the board are coming. We just have a ridiculous structural imbalance that can't be dealt with through growth and speeding cuts. The kind of growth needed to bring in revenues always invites inflation. If you were to look at just the Medicare prescription plan that was enacted in 2005 the point is well illustrated. On the day TTwhat program kicked off we needed to have 8 trillion dollars invested in moderate growth vehicles to support the program overthe long haul we didn't have 8 trillion or billion or million or hell 8000.00 we put it on the card. So yeah we have a big spending problem but to suggest we an solve this forthe long haul without added tax revenues is disingenuous. And your response seems to indicate that I believe someone doesn't pay enough in taxes already. I can asure you as part of the 10% paying those taxes im in no hurry to pay more. As for suffering from avatar envy all I can say is mine is bigger:)
