Hit the Pequest at about 4 pm on Monday. The water was a little high and off color so I thought I might be fishing streamers. As I got into the river, however, there were a few fish rising, so I put on a Royal Wulff as an indicator (for my failing eyes) and a #14 Matt's Sulphur Emerger trailing in the film. I caught a bunch of fish, surprisingly mostly on the Wulff. At about 5 pm sulphurs started appearing floating on the surface and fish were violently attacking them, so I put on a #16 sulphur parachute and got some more fish before losing those flies on tree branches. I switched to a Fran Better's Usual and caught another bunch. I must have nicked the hook eye with my forceps getting the fly out of a fish's jaw because I broke the tippet and every time I tried to tie the tippet back on the fly, the line would snap when I tightened the knot. I figured that was a sign because I had no more yellow or yellowish flies so I went home. It was about 7 and the sulphurs were still hatching. Below is one of the fish caught, I stopped taking pictures because it was taking too long and the fish splashing all around me was distracting. It was great dry fly action.
