I spent the day in the pequest TCA today. weather was absolutely gorgeous, water temp 52, fish were very active. water seems to have come up a tiny bit from the recent rain, but its still very low. i landed 12 fish and lost too many to count. i didnt really see anyone else getting into fish. fish were taken on zebra midges, soft hackle and loop wing olives, rainbow warrior, and pheasant tails. Everything i fished was tiny, sizes 20 and up. highlight of my day was landing this slob. she was taken off a bank in the shade under overhanging trees on a tiny zebra midge. took me 15 minutes on my 5wt to get her in the net. she was as fat as a football and completely unmolested.before leaving around dark i went below the brige and landed a brookie on a size 16 BH flashback PH that must have been atleast 16-17" and very fat..fought like a bitch i thought it was a brown. she slipped out of my hands before i could pull the iphone out.all in all was a great day. i think i am sunburnt

Dude that makes no sense. None whatsoever

He's trying to imply that catching fish in the pequest is easy. Lebron James is supposedly great, but in reality blows. Therefore being able to catch fish in the pequest is easy and lebron james sucks.

However, his argument sucks on two premises. First is that fishing is fishing, and atleast the guy got out to catch some slobs. To put someone down for that is absolutely ludacris and the basis of Simms's being. Second, basketball blows, so his Lebron James argument is null and void. That's why I can understand why you did not understand his analogy.

Nice fish dude.

Simms, as expected. Gotta love it though, it is just the internet after all, eh?

Your analysis is worse than his post. Do USA favor and stop trying to be helpful. Wallpaper does suck though

Catching fish in the pequest is about as impressive as Lebron James.

word, bro.

Its the Pequest, if you can't catch a fish there, you suck, and most of the guys here are Pequest whores (especially Simms).

I do give you a big thumbs up on the Star Trek reference though.

no shit its easy to fish the pequest..im a total newb and that place makes me look like a pro lol. the rainbow is still a slob and worth a picture with a report..afterall, isn't that what this forum is for?

Congrats. I wouldn't belittle your accomplishment - you seem to have learned a few things plenty of people at the Pequest miss. Like finding fish tucked up into some hide away and successfully using smaller flies. Those fish have been hammered for a few months now and are not complete babes in the woods.

In low clear water the Pequest is a great place to learn. You can spot the fish and then see how your fly drifts in relation to the fish. Those are great skills to begin to hone. It doesn't hurt that you can tangle with some bigger than average fish that will keep you engaged in the sport.

The Pequest can't be as bad as fishing the catch and release section on the Davidson in NC. They say they are all "wild" fish. This stretch is behind the hatchery and it just so happens they flush the hatchery pen water into the river. So these fish get fat in the c and r section off fish pellets. Might as well just be hatchery fish.

Anyways, not to get off topic. Nice fish! There are lots of places that are easy to catch fish. At least you were fishing! Now that you're a "pro" on the Pequest, start challenging yourself and fish new water. You'll be glad you did and you'll learn a lot more along the way.

nice fish.....the pequest is a good place to build confidence which I think is as important as anything else when your first starting out. A little success goes a long way and you begin to fish harder because you trust what your doing will catch fish. I'd recommend ressica falls in the poconos as a place for you to try this spring. Great spring action over there and just difficult enough to make you learn a thing or two as your gaining in skill. Shoot me a PM if you want more details on the stream

I'm thinking some photoshopping took place.

Nahh.....that would be too much work. Besides...you should see the pigs down on the Davidson that are "wild" yet eat the left over pellets. Here is a link to some pictures of pellet fed "wild" pigs from the Davidson.

The pool behind this guy is right below the pipe that discharges the "waste water" (plume of pellets) into the river. You should watch how many trout come out of that pool and gorge themselves on pellets and dead fry from the tanks.

Ok....back to the topic at hand....
I wonder what the measurements were for that pequest piggy.
