Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Good for you congrats...I assume you haven't been bowhunting yet either. This is my first bow season...I've been seein deer down here at school but haven't taken a shot yet. I gotta buy a new bow once I get money, I'm working with an old High Country that's probably older than me.

For anyone interested in the Pequannock, there's a story about it in the Nov/Dec issue of Eastern Fly Fishing Magazine. On stands now...

Any bow can take a deer if you can hit the target. Wait till the buck fever hits and your hands are shaking and you can't breath. Then the fun starts.. After 23 years hunting I still get it, sometimes worse than others. We will have to get out for sure. May do some hunting during winter bow. hunt fish hunt. you know what I mean....

Winterbow is my favorite. The peace and solitude. the crunch of leaves when the animals are moving. Fishing has become that way for me now too.

I fish this stream about once a week all spring and most of the summer and fall, funny I never see anyone once the in-season stocking ends.

who wrote the article?

The authors name is Christopher Roslan. he doesn't say anything that wasn't already said on this forum.

IMHO, this river needs 2 things. A steady flow of water from the resevoir and strict C&R regulations from it's source down to Bloomingdale. :fish:

if they would discontinue the stocking it would also help the wild brown trout population.even cut it back to twice a year like it use to be would help.the city of newark will never release enough water to make a difference, because they are providing water to people.the low cost penalty is so low that is cheaper to pay the penalty and sell water.i do not remember what the amout per million gallons was.

With the new regs set to begin on Jan 1 the current seasonal TCA will become a WTS so there should be no more stockings. The stretch now downstream of the TCA will be the new TCA, but I forget the lower boundary. But I think the new TCA will also be a seasonal and not year round TCA. All in all, this will help. Again, if you know where you can park, the old TCA is some nice water but the state felt that there simply was not enough parking to keep this section as a TCA. Bottom line is more river miles will now be better protected. That leaves the fight with the city of Newark as the biggest hurdle.

Going fishing on the Peqannock tomoro morning what do you guys recommend throuwing? Nymphs?

The past few times I've fished (most recently about 3 or 4 weeks ago) I have been on the Pequannock. Water levels were low, just as they have been everwhere else. I've been fishing above the TCA. I've caught a few brookies, and seen a bunch more. Now might be a good time to check it out after the recent down pour.

PS I have yet to see a snake or bear, I would rather the bear over the snake lol.
