Old Eyes

When I logged on this morning, I found that certain sections of the message board had black type on a dark blue background.

This is a little tough if your eyes are aren't as sharp as they used to be.....

If you're still working on a different format don't worry about it for now. I can read the board Ok by switching to the "bluechrome" style.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Thanks Pete...

How are the colors now? I think I might have to lighten them up a little bit, but I'm on my way out right now. Did you notice anything other than the colors? Font sizes / overall page layout? Thanks again for the feedback, I'm always open to constructive critisism.

I'm with Pete on this one....I thought there was something wrong with my monitor...Keep us old guys in mind...

Much better as far as readability is concerned. :)

Layout: There seems to be a little less "side scroll" now.
In the past I could see about half of the "get new" button without side scrolling. Now, I can see most of the calendar button.

I hadn't been paying much attention to fonts and type size. My "readability" problem was more about contrast than size/font. In spite of the fact that "bluechrome" had a smaller type size, it was easy to read.

I may stick with the "bluechrome" style for now. The placement of the buttons is more suitable for a small monitor set at 800 X 600 pixels, (the only thing requiring side scroll is the right half of the search box).

~~~~~EDIT~~~~~~~
After I switched back to "Bluechrome" I experienced a problem mentioned in another topic. The usernames had disappeared from the posts. I had to "mouse-over" the PM button to see who had posted while I was typing the above. :confused:
~~~TIME PASSES~~EDIT~~~~~~~
Cleared Cache...still no usernames with "Bluechrome" style
Cleared cookies...still no usernames
Went back to "default" style....Usernames are back.

I clicked on "Reading A River" by Chris Chin but the screen becomes too narrow to fit the story...can't read with the new format.

young eyes

I have very good eye sight and something about the blue backdrop still bothers my vision, I like the lighter background. Also tried to login when replying and login doesnt work, had to go back out the the home page to login and then reply.

Re: Blue/violet backdrop
I noticed after I made my "much better" post. After clicking the "get new" button....The time of the "last post" is a bit lighter than the normal type. The contrast could be better.

Aside from "olds eyes", someone may be using an old monitor that's losing some of the range on the upper end of the brightness setting.

Guys,

I'll fix this issue when I get home tonight. Been really busy the past few weeks. I've been doing some work on the site as time permits. Just hang in there. Oh... by the way, if anyone has any good ideas with colors, feel free to let me know.

Thanks

I've been coping with this by "right-clicking" on the article, selecting properties, copying the URL, and then pasting it into the address bar. For that particular article this will make it readable... http://www.njflyfishing.com/chrischin/chrischin.htm

If the "main menu" can be trimmed down a bit, there may be room to put all the gizmos on the same side of the page.
