Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
I will be staying near the Narraguagus river in Milbridge,Me. next week. I have never been in this area and have no idea what to expect. Any help w/ fly selection or local shops to stop at would be a great help.
My in-laws used to live in Milbridge. Unfortunately, most of the coastal streams/ ponds in the area warm up this time of year and the trout fishing isn't so hot. Little Tunk Pond was the best pond I remember, and that is a good drive from Milbridge. Whitten-Parrit Stream (sp?) at the Washington Co boundary used to have small brookies and the fishing held up longer than many spots. Ask around for smallie ponds - people don't keep them so secret. Beddington Lake on the upper Narraguagus has decent smallie fishing.
Milbridge is pretty boony and don't expect any fly shops (the general store at Four Corners had a few flies). The nearest town with a flyshop is Elsworth, and you may have to go all the way to Bangor.
