Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

My first Delaware river tarpon

MACFLY

Too many streams too little time
Was out on the East Branch yesterday and Hooked into this beast. He took a bead head caddis emerger trailed off caddis dry. A nice hen of almost 5 pounds. Lots of fun on a 5 weight:)ImageUploadedByTapatalk1367774099.741615.jpg

They are a blast. Pods of six or seven were playing in the current right in front of my feet Friday afternoon on the main stem. Couldn't get them to take.

Right or wrong: for the first 30 seconds you thought you had an enormous rainbow on... that's been my experience practically every time.

All the way up there for that!! What a bafoon. Please refrain from disgracing the pages of NEFF in the future

Its a big herring. Some call it a shad. Only the most boobish of boobs goes for trout and catch shad.

It's a river tarpon and they are a hard fighting gamefish. DLUVER went for trout and only caught a sunburn.

catching shad when you are going for trout is always a blast since you are not expecting it. They taste better too. Good catch Mac! I bet that fish kicked your butt.

Say what you want , I can tell you one thing Paul had his hands full with that nice buck on a 5wt and 5x tippet . That thing took him right into the backing in a split second they are true sport on a fly rod.:) If you are up there and there is nothing going on they are not to hard to catch , just tye on a bugger and toss it in front of the pod and strip away they attack a fly with a vengeance and are hard fighters . A great way to fill the void when there is no dry fly action!

Sharp belly scales on those things. My buddy hooked a huge hen this weekend and it rolled and snapped his leader on its belly scales. He's convinced that it was intentional and is now in awe of the brain power of a giant herring.

They are a wily gamefish.
