More fracking earthquakes

Jon Stewart is funny and the article seems to state what the rest of the articles have stated. It's not actually Fracking that causes the earthquake. Intersting that at the end of the article it mentions earthquakes and groundwater pollution. Is there an example of where that occurred. I haven't seen one

Ok, Mac.

Let me explain...

The weird notion that the dumping of wastewater in to fuel injection wells, by fracking companies, IS NOT FRACKING, is misleading.

WASTE DISPOSAL, or WASTE DUMPING (more accurately), is part of the fracking process.

As of now, the fracking companies dump their chemical wastewater in to injection wells.

And it causes earthquakes. Big ones where homes are getting destroyed in Oklahoma, and a 5.7 quake attributed to fracking in Ohio occurred.

Scientists certain that drilling is causing earthquakes

Now, I'm not sure how the facts here make anybody comfortable with the fracking process and the fracking companies that are dumping their wastewater and causing earthquakes by doing so...

Like, are we to be relieved that the quakes are caused by dumping chemical wastewater, as opposed to another part of the fracking process?

No its not john. If I take your definition then Fracking in and of itself would have to stop. It doesn't have to stop because drilling a well is not causing an earthquake period full stop. Now I want to see the safe disposal of wastewater. Have no desire to see it contaminate groundwater. Is that happening? Is there evidence of wastewater contaminating groundwater supplies. Is it anecdotal? Is it widespread? Fracking has been going in for a long time so there must be some fact based studies that show this. I haven't seen any so I am asking. It's not about being comfortable with any of this. Energy is a necessity and that's something you don't seem to want to admit to.

To recap drilling doesn't cause earthquakes
Disposal of wastewater appears to have an impact in certain areas and needs to be addressed ( there are other options)
If you base your views on pure ideology you are as bad as the folks you are against.

Now when are you floating me on the Delaware with Joe D.

Since we're still talking about man-made earthquakes (hahahahahahahah!!!!!) and no trip report, the Beetle/Moosekid float on Monday was a skunk-fest? You still want to float with Beetle? I think that he may be fishing Kryptonite.

Wait are you telling me beetle to moose kid for a float with Joe D on Monday? Can you confirm this?

Man, you're behind the curve on this one. What are you off your game this week? I've been telling you this since Monday, and now there is a whole thread devoted to this topic.

Well in my defense I was focused on things that actually matter to me:)

Fracking has been going in for a long time...

Remember what EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy said:

'McCarthy also argued that officials know fracking can be done safely, as long as the proper precautions are taken. "The good news about drinking water is that we really do know how to construct a well," she said. "These are not out-of-the-loop new technologies we’re seeking to identify. This is standard engineering practice."
"We can develop best management practices that actually address these issues and work with states on how to get that information out, and how they can begin to rely on that to ensure they’re using EPA science to their best advantage."'

Fracking has been going on for 60 years or so...

But if what I'm hearing in the wind is correct, wait until you see the hypocritical mess that's gonna come out of Albany soon, when the DEC releases their Final Supplemental Generic Environmental Impact Statement dealing with drilling...

Prior to the moratorium/ban on hydraulic fracturing, NYS used to allow for fracks that were 80,000 gallons of less. Then they decided that there was not enough evidence that fracking was safe. Remember that...

If what I hear is correct, NYS is afraid of lawsuits and are willing to be hypocritical to deflect legal responsibility for their actions(which amounts to Cuomo ingratiating himself with the "environmentalist" voting block at the expense of landowner rights)... This'll be hilarious...

FF, you are a smart guy.

For as long as I have been posting to NEFF, you have never caught a fish.

But have posted almost exclusively about fracking...

Why is this so important to you?

A page outta Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals"...

Why do you want to use a lie to change the subject?

Why is fracking so important to you?
Aren't you gonna say I didn't catch that fish?
Come on, GB... DEFEND the lie, pal!
At least ridicule me... rule #5...

You think that the answer is important?
I've been honest about this for six years.
I own gas I want to sell.
To you, the guy who buys it to keep his kids warm.

I also have a problem with folks who, through dishonesty and fear stoking attempt to limit my rights as a property owner.
All the while, benefiting from the use of gas they demonize...

Why do you keep buying fracked fossil fuels?

Hahahahahaha

GB,
I see you posted a new thread...
You musta missed this question, because you haven't responded...

Go to Water: public capital - GB Magazine

And then read the other blog entries on the California drought.

I'll discuss fracking later, although the case is analogous to groundwater regulation, and water generally, in California.

But GB,
Neither is going to answer the question as to why you continue to support, with money, the fracking companies...

Again, why do you "give them money" given that over the last 5 years, you've outlined all the various "harm" they do to the environment?

I own a condo and there are no alternatives.

I dont choose.

Give me a moment with this...
my head is spinnin'...

FF, he sort of has a point. There may come a day when power users have the option to chose where their power comes from, fossil or renewable. However now we do not have that choice. So on this, you may have to give the Beetle a little sliding room.

its intersting that when it comes time to regulate and restrict what others do foks like beetle are all for it claiming eceryone owns the resource. Now allegedly beetle owns a condo and is powerless to choose his utility provider as a result. I wonder how hard he has tried to convince the condo board to change providers. Better yet run for the board so you can make the changes you so fervently believe in. Or Is it just do as I say not as I do.

I, am not aware of any energy providers in our area that provide for you choosing the purchase of energy based on how it is generated. But I would be interested if it is available.

FF, just look at it this way...

You didnt create any natural gas... Sellable gas.

Ok?

So you dont own it.

We all do.

Ok?

we we all may own it, but unless you can get it yourself, you need to pay someone to get it for you. Also, you need to pay FF to get onto his property to get it. But you know this already.
