LL dead fish

trico mike

make mine wild
Just looked at the stream report on the Lilltle Lehigh flyshop and the second picture is a real nice shot of a fish floating dead. Any body else see this. Just thought it was kinda funny that Rod didn't notice it before he put the picture up.

Mike,

Yeh that is wierd that the sleeping trout is on the stream report page. Saw tons of tired fish while on a quick walk through a certain contest area. Makes me :beingsick: to see that in such great streams.

If anyone is out this way: Sulphers hatches are getting better every eavening, and the tricos are picking up nicely too. Today is a streamer day.

Dead fish..

The photo in question is entitled

Clarity behind the Little Lehigh Fly Shop

True.. it is so clear that you can see below the surface of the water.

As for a dead fish.. It looks to me like the exposed part of a submerged rock.

Note the colour of the shale on the bank. The light gives it a white colour, and the shape of the exposed rock gives the illusion of a fish floating.

At first glance it definitely looks like a submerged belly-up fish and I almost called you on it; but upon closer inspection, I'm apt to agree with you.

It's clearly a dead fish... I'm surprised the photographer found it before the herons did.

Beg to differ it clearly is a dead fish as there are not any bottom features in this stream that are that light in color and I might add if it is a rock its fins are perfectly placed as well as it's tail and gills. Oh a rock fish!! damn how could I have been so stupid!!:)

I see the rocks you are talking about now Skim... there the ones next to the dead trout, correct?

Dizz you need to get yourself a good pair of polarized glasses.

I see said the blind man....

I’m wearing my polarized glasses… perhaps that’s why I can clearly see the dead fish settled “belly up” against the submerged rocks… of which every one is BROWN by the way.

Maybe you need a pair of “prescription” glasses?

WHY WOULD ANYONE CALL THAT DITCH A GREAT RIVER????????? Maybe if you're looking to wiggle your toes in the nice silt that's built up on the bottom.

You don't know what your talking about !!!!!!

That is not "silt build up" along the bottom...

It is Indiana water/Lube that acts as a water heat exchanger in trout rivers to enhanced cooling water thermo break down, transfer heat to shale substrate which in turn decreases water temperatures and Lubes the rock to reduce friction allowing rivers to flow more freely.

It is a corn blend enzyme catalist which chemical reactions involving the substrate and the water.

Istilltend to lead towards dead fish even though I seehow it could be a exposed rock. The reason I think it is a fish is because I check that site on a daily basis and have never seen it before and usually Rod updates it every day, also I can't recall any exposed rocks there when I fish there.

It's a dead fish, I know because I killed it...

...trying to take a picture of it!

;)

OMG, who cares either way? Wait stop the presses, "there may be a stream picutre with a dead fish in it." Trout die from time to time, and with hundreds of trout in most of the pools there Rod was bound to get a picture with a trout floating by sooner or later. And for obvious reasons, the trout in the LL will always be susceptible to dying from whatever gets wahsed in after warm summer rains.

Changing your MO Bam thought that it was just a mid winter spot for you!
Just got off the hot line with Rod he did confirm some cigar smoking smart ass wearing a fag bag was responsible for the dead fish. He saw it with his own 2 eyes watched said wise ass play arround getting his camera ready took almost 2 full minutes to take a picture all the while this poor fish lay helplessly on the bank!!He also added that the person was carring a GI Joe figure with him to to. And he asked what it was for and the smart asses reply was hero shot!! I don't know !! Sounds suspicious to me..:)

I agree, there are always a few ‘floaters” in any stocked stream for various reasons… not sure about the “current” state of the LL Heritage section, but last time I was there (7-8 years ago) it was stuffed with every kind of hatchery creation available. Some lady in high-heeled boots that looked like she just stepped off of 5th Avenue was clobbering them with a coffee bean glued to a hook. Pretty funny to see the chagrined old-timers look on in disgust with their 8X tippets and Al’s Rats.

Actually, if you REALLY want a good photo from the Little Lehigh...

...sneak up and snap a picture of the computer screen in the fly shop when when the proprietor isn't watching you.

It ain't pictures of dead fish he's lookin' at when the shop is empty...
