Morris the Rodmaker DVD

Hello to all-- Just want to introduce myself, so I'll start with a confession: I'm not an avid fisherman. But I am the grandson of Morris Kushner, a Michigan builder of some of the finest cane rods ever built (so I'm told.) Morris was featured in Robert Traver's Trout Magic (chapter 13, Morris the Rodmaker.) I still do toss a line in now and then, and I own 3 or 4 Kushner rods that many of you would no doubt drool over.

It's so gratifying to see that folks still remember my Grandpa. I made a film about him when I was in college-- almost 30 years ago. It's really a simple documentary, mostly told from the grandson's point of view, but it has some pretty rare footage and interviews with Robert Traver & Bob Summers, a rodmaker in Traverse City, MI who was a protege of Grandpa. I've given the film to a few family members and some local fisher-folk and I am now hearing from them that others may be interested in owning this video. The video contains-- well, I guess you can go to this website to see a sample, and get more info:

I hope I am not violating any forum rules with this post. I'm pretty new at this stuff, and I really just want to recoup the duplication and shipping on these. Feel free to contact me directly if you want.

And if you knew Morris or have any Morris stories, please let me know

Happy Trout season to all!

Here is the link. I originally removed it but I think some of you will actually enjoy the video.

I did enjoy the trailer Dennis, and while I'm not a fan of the "first post advertisers", this one was kinda cool. While I'm on the topic, good job with the Google ads, they fit in well with the flow of the site and I hope they help you offset the cost of the hosting.

Thanks, Mike... Glad you didn't find them too over the top...

I have a system now in place that will offer advertisers banner ads too. I'm just sorting a few things out with this. But basically, it will work a few different ways... Advertisers will be offered banner space based on forum/location on the site, as well as key words... So if WBA wanted an advertisement placed anytime Delware River or West Branch or Catskills, etc... An ad would be displayed somewhere in the thread, but not everytime... Only on random occasions. I don't want to bombard the site with advertisements.

d,

thank you for all your work. loved the trailer, thats certainly old school.:)

I am the grandson of Morris Kushner - who some of you may know was one of the finest craftsmen of bamboo flyrods during the 60's and 70's. Grandpa was a hero to me when I was growing up in S.E. Michigan, and for one of my film classes in college- exactly thirty years ago-- I made a film to honor him.

It's so gratifying to see that folks still remember my Grandpa. It's really a simple documentary, mostly told from the grandson's point of view, but it has some pretty rare footage and interviews with Robert Traver (Author of Anatomy of a Murder, Anatomy of a Fisherman, Trout Magic) & Bob Summers (upper Michigan rodbuilder extraordinaire). I've given it to a few family members and some local fisher-folk and I am now hearing from them that others may be interested in owning this video. besides the interviews the film contains shots of Morris fishing all over the world and some rare footage of Traver in the U.P at his private fishing stream (Frenchman's Pond) and even some rodbuilding advice from Summers.

What's more, I recently found the original tapes from my interviews with Traver (25 min.) & Summers (86 min.) from 30 years ago, and now include them unedited with the DVD. Some may find these interviews as fascinating as the DVD itself.

If you wish, you can see a clip at the website (morristherodmaker.com) and get information on ordering the DVD. Thanks for checking it out, & Happy Trout season!
