Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
I find that when a fish takes my hook a tad deeper than normal I can slide my ketchum release down my line and more easily remove the fly than with pliers. I would like to also mention that it works even better when I debarb or use barbless hooks.
I've used all three sizes (midge, regular and " big bug") for the last 3 years and really like them. I never have to handle the fish, which helps keep their protective slime intact. I don't tear up the flies, like forceps can do. Pinching down the barbs definitely helps, too.
