Does anyone use this device? I think it's a waste of time. Then again, maybe I'm using it incorrectly.

Does this thing really work?

Yes, I thought it was junk for a while, but persevered. Now I hardly ever touch a fish, or use a net.

I find that when a fish takes my hook a tad deeper than normal I can slide my ketchum release down my line and more easily remove the fly than with pliers. I would like to also mention that it works even better when I debarb or use barbless hooks.

my 2 cents. tight lines

I use barbless flies, so I really don't have a prob. removing the hook. But when the hook is deeper, this is a great tool

I've used all three sizes (midge, regular and " big bug") for the last 3 years and really like them. I never have to handle the fish, which helps keep their protective slime intact. I don't tear up the flies, like forceps can do. Pinching down the barbs definitely helps, too.
