Hopper Patterns

I'm looking forward to a trip in July to a Michigan River known for hopper fishing (the Manistee). So I have two questions. First, if the fish are onto hoppers, are they selective as to patterns? And second, what are your favorites? I've never tried tying any, and would appreciate any advice on where to start. Thanks.

Yes, they are selective. Movement, size and color are very important.

Try purchasing a few flies from the nearby flyshops and then duplicate a few at home.

My fav is a bullet head. But you are going to be better off going to a local shop and askin them whats good. They most likely stock whats hoppin. ok I know that was bad but I had to say it.
