The online fly fishing forum thing is a subculture that has nothing at all to do with fly fishing.
Every board is loaded with tough guys.
Drakemag, paflyfish, etc.
On Drakemag, I've been told to die in a fire every time I've posted. And when I was banned the first time around, they just gloated about how I couldn't make it in the big leagues.
Which was funny to me, because I knew I would return some day, and now I am their most popular poster, and really I prefer NEFF by far to their forum.
As the number one most popular poster on drakemag, I say that to you guys and mean it.
As their best contributor, I say this is the better board.
I'm pretty sure the online forum thing is just a very small and overlapping community. The guys on drakemag post on other forums, etc.
What I thought was unique to NEFF is really the fly fishing board subculture that exists everywhere.
It is like a virtual Afghanistan. Totally uncivilized. The appearance of civility in some places is because a benevolent tribal chief has risen to prominence...
