I tried my hardest with one of those pogy hooks, but got it caught on a rock and lost it. switched over to
a olive wooly bugger and bam! my first fish on the fly rod. :lol:


I don't think I'll be tying anytime soon, but the gears are turning in my head.

Just make sure you tell your wife/girlfriend that you are tying to save money on flies. If you say it often enough, you might actually believe it yourself (which only leads to additional materials purchases).

too late! already purchased some fly tying matrial from another forum... now I just need a cheap vise. :smiley-sniffer:

I keep telling myself and my wife I'm saving money but it's not true. But I enjoy it and keeps me happy. I use a vise exactly like this one Fly Tying Vise with Spring Loaded Jaws It works well and I tie down to size 20. Can't beat the price. Holds hooks well, lots of adjustment. Check it out.

I tell my self that everytime I hit the checkout button on an online shopping cart. I'm going to need an extra duffle bag to bring back all the fly tying gear I've purchased here!
