Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Few questions

Creth,

Welcome to the site. Fly fishing is a very personal sport. No two people approach the art is the same way. Find out what works for you as an individual. One thing that most beginning fly fisher men fail to do is; they fail to understand what questions to ask. Find out what the questions are first. You will get answers. We can tell what flies work. As most guys on this site know that is just the surface question to the questions that are hidden below that one.
The members on the site are very knowledgeable on all aspects of the sport. We have guys that are well versed in different techniques in all aspects in the sport. Some guys are good dry fly fishermen, some are very good with streamers others are proficient at nymphing and there a select few that swear by wet flies. Although we at time seem to be a bit immature and some what unstable at times ( that is to keep the Drake guys superiority complex intact. We would want them to have more reality then the could handle) .

By the definition of your name:

Creth.

Overly large man, often goes by Shrek, Tiny, or goombah. Takes care of friends, often before his self. Likes many girls but never has a girlfriend do to the "Let's just be friends" line (skinny bitches). Enjoying the night life Creth often sleeps all day until awoken by his roommates or neighbors.
You will fit right in with this diverse group on nuts on this site.

As opposed to a "creth head" but if that was the case he wouldn't be asking questions about fishing. Then again maybe it's all some type of elaborate code and I've been on the wrong web site all this time.

Haha I have never urban dictionaried my username before that gave me a laugh. As I go about trying to fish I probably will have many questions. I am going to hit up a local pond tonight to just practice some casting and hopefully catch a few bass.

Thanks again.

Now don't be going to the brick yards, a.k.a. Bee Meadow ponds.

Welcome to the site and fly fishing. IMO opinion the easiest fly to catch a trout is the soft-hackled wet fly - not always the best producer given the situation but very easy to use. I always enjoy the dry fly action but do believe that a skilled nymph fisherman will catch the most trout throughout a season.

I also enjoy fishing a soft hackle. It is a very versatile fly and can be fished many different ways depending on the circumstance.
