I wear an inflatable waste belt all the time even when wading, why not ? You have to use a wading belt anyway so thats what I think of it as, if it needs to double as an emergency device its there saying yank me.
I dont even know its there most of the time and can even push it around to my back if I am on very tiny streams. My wading belt is my PFD

Someone asked me why I wear an inflatable wading belt, well, you have to wear belt anyway so why not an inflatable belt. You do not have to be in deep water to run into a problem, for example: You can be standing in knee deep water at the head of a pool and slip and get washed into a deep swift pool. You can get your foot stuck between rocks and break an ankle, at least you can keep your head above water. You can have a heart attack or stoke and keep afloat. You can get into a bad situation with deep water all around you and have not choice but to go for it and hope for the best. There are lots of things that can happen and an inflatable belt does not cramp you style one bit.

But can the belt keep you floating head up in case you are un-conscience? Seems to me the belt will keep your torso floating but not in an upright position.

once inflated its like a collar you can put around your neck. It deploys on a tether so you have something to grab onto then put over your head. Nothing is perfect but its better than nothing.

ohh i gotcha. i was thinking a belt like a ski belt that attaches around your waist and basicily is like a doughnut around your waistwhen inflated.
