Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

cortland

I just looked at one of the maps, and fall creek is right near Dryden and Cortland. I have been meaning to make it down there. Everyone I know who has fished it says there are some big browns in there.

Fished Fall Creek just up from Cornell Memorial Day weekend and small browns were all over, but I didn't get into any of the larger ones (also had steady action from smallies, rock bass, fallfish, and perch). Up near Lake Como, brookies start to appear in Fall Creek and its tribs.

Lower Fall Creek gets decent runs of browns and landlocked salmon in the Fall (and even a few male bows start moving in). The salmon start in October and the browns start in November, but the Finger Lakes tribs are more like smaller Lake O tribs where the fish need a good rainfall to bring them in and only hang around a few days. Therefore, past timing is only a rough guide - got to keep on top of current conditions and scout a lot of water to score consistently. On the positive side, Cayuga Lake is just coming out of a decade long period where the lakers were up and the other salmonids were down. Last year browns, LLS, and rainbows started to show up a whole lot more and this year that trend seems to be continuing.

When in Cortland stop at the Cortland Factory store. They will clue you in to what is happening locally.
