Too many streams too little time
I came across this topic on another forum. Big Spring in Cumberland Country was the site of a trout hatchery for many years. People used to fish below the hatchery in a place called the ditch which was filled with gargantuan trout. But the stream suffered from effluent out of the hatchery and habitat degradation. Many years ago it was a world class brook trout fishery. I fished there many years ago just before the hatchery closed. I fished a small run below the ditch and landed 8 rainbows in about an hour with the largest about 22 inches. After the hatchery closed there was talk of restoring the fishery for brook trout. Looks like the rainbows are still there in good numbers and this latest project seems to be a step in the right direction for the brookies.
