Went camping up at Stokes Friday morning, came home Saturday night. Caught a couple of Browns on dry flys in Stokes, my boys caught about 7 white bass? between them on fatheads on Friday. Trout still hanging in the usually places with one monster seen at the walk only bridge just off Flatbrook rd, just up from 206. Went to the Delaware River on the canoe Saturday. Put in at Poxino Island, paddled up stream to the next island fishing and goofing off on the paddle up and back. One of my sons managed 4 smallmouths on his fly rod which out fished my pathetic 2 perch and some pumpkins. Kicked his little brother rear end who ended up with nothing. River was up about 2 feet and a bit muddied, but the weather was nice and another enjoyable time with my sons enjoyed. Best deal was the all you can eat piazza plus a soda for 5 bucks from the piazza place on 206 across from the Dairy Queen. Waitress turned me on to the deal. We kept it civil with 2 slices each, but a nice deal. Coming home about 8pm saw a mother bear plus 3 cubs cross over Flatbrook Rd. Might of hit her or the cubs with the truck if I was 30 seconds earlier as I did not see the bear come out off the woods. She just jumped out and the cubs naturally followed. Kind of cool to see but I am sure it won't be long before dead bears are found on the side of the road hit by cars.
Also found in the the flatbrook river in Stokes was a hang around the neck lanyard with some tools attached. Could not decide if they just fell there or if they washed down from upstream, looked like they been there awhile. If someone lost it, I will ship it out to you.
