Bass/Salt Rod

Hi, I ended up doing more sm basss fishing this year than trout do to water conditions. While having a lot of fun doing so, the one handicap was my 5 wt rod. I labored a bit casting larger flies and longer distances. I'm interested in upgrading to a 7wt or 8wt. I would also like to eventually try saltwater, (back bays, tropics). Can anyone recommend a decent rod/reel combo that won't break the bank?

sure, look for closeout st. croix avids, or go with a TFO rod. you can't miss with either of those.
