Bass fishing in NJ

Last week I went out to Round Valley on my boat and bass fishing was great. Nothing big small mouth and rock bass. The other guy i was with was using a spinning set up and got 2. I was using a 7wt and a olive wolley bugger and thy could not leave it alone.

For the big fish you have to go deep >15-20', unless you're there at night, when they may come up to 5-10'. I gave up bassin' at RVR with a fly rod, I just couldn't get down deep enough with what I had.

I do a lot of flying for smallmouth in the upper Raritan River and haved hooked up to 20" fish there. Mostly smaller fish, which I found to be more fun!! One more trip tonight and then back to trout and hopefully some salty action during the fall migration.
