Earlier in the same year that I crafted the swastika cookies, we heard and learned the song "99 Luftbaloons" or 99 red baloons by the German singer Nena, we learned the words in German and my buddy and i quickly began singing 99 "meat baloons", ( i got in trouble for that too) his father was an interesting dude...he during the 1940's and 50's made his living clubbing seals for the Norwegian Merchant Marine.

Not much success with the carp so I decided to head up to the famous BFB. This was going to be my very first trip to BFB. Got there around 4am, parked near the handicap spot and started working my way upstream.
It was early Saturday morning. The sun starts to rise and I’m here alone exploring for the first time the beautiful NJ stream. Fished there for couple of hours already and started to wonder if I’m in the right place. Is this really THE Big Flat Brook? There was no one around - just me and the nature. You don’t get that very often in such pupular spots in NJ. Well the fishing was good, the weather was faboules so who cares if this is the BFB or not.
The most sucessful fly was “bead head prince” and I only had one left. It’s around 12-1pm already and I’m fishing by the dead tree in the fly fhishing only zone. There is a big fish on the bottom of the pool I’m going after but my fly lands on the other side of the tree in the deepest place of the pool I was fishing in. I was about to lose my last prince… and I hate losing flies… and I’ll whatever it takes to recover it. I had no other choice but to go for a dive.
Got back to the bank and took all my cloths off except my speedo underware. I’m standing there knee deep in the freezing water ready to go for a refreshing dive when all of the sudden two guys with a huge binoculars came out of nowhere on the other side. They were stunned seeing me nearly naked and so was I. What happened to the solitary? It was one of the moments when seconds feels like hours.
I took a dive and followed my line all the way to the prince and recovered him. The guys kept walking along the bank quietly laughing their asses off. I got back to the bank, dressed, put my waders on and slowly started walking back to my car laughing my ass off.
This was definatelly one of the best outings ever. The fishing, the solitary (for the most part), the so needed swimming in the cold water after night of fishing… I’ll never forget “magical day”.

That's a good story but I'm disappointed. You had time to take 2 videos of a stocked brook trout but not even a picture of you in your speedos swimming around the bfb. It would have been great if the guys who were spying on you took a bit of video themselves. That I believe would have put you in 1st place.

I do agree with the trout nazi, but a guy wearing a speedo flyfishing deserves some respect. face it its easy to load up on orvis or simms attire for the stream, but wearing a speedo takes some balls.
