Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Anyone ever run into a famous person while fishing?

Back in the olden days when Armstrong Spring Creek was free I was having a very good day and a gentleman above me called down to ask me what I was using. When I looked up to him I was surprised, and thrilled, to see Joe Brooks was the inquiring angler. I got out of the creek and went up to him and he got out of the water and we chatted, I gave him a couple of my flies, and his wife Mary took my picture with him and and my friend.

If I can remember how to post a picture here I will scan the old print and add it to this post. He was my fly fishing hero and I'd read his book "The Complete Book of Fly Fishing" when I was in my teens. It was a memorable afternoon.

Does it count if you just see a fly fisherman of some fame? I saw Doug Swisher often collecting specimens on Armstrong Creek when he was writing "Selective Trout". I've seen Caucci float by me numerous times while wade fishing near my place on the WB below DRC.

When I worked in Alaska, I guided Larry Czonka for a week with his film crew. It was for his North to Alaska show. I think it was his first season with the show as it was sponsored by Stihl Chainsaws.
Also Big Pussy from the Sopranos, dont remember his real name. Wiliam Hurt is a regular on the WB. There are a lot of famous famous faces that grace the Catskill waters. Most want to remain low key and unnoticed, understandably.
If you floated by Al in front of his campground, I am positive he could have taken your hat off. I worked for him for 13 years and even with one eye, is pretty formidable.
Josh from the DRC guided Cheney on the Snake when he was working for Jack Dennis during the summers. Supposedly, he had some sort of bulletproof blanket that was supposed to be thrown over the VP if there was a threat or gunshots. Secret Service boats in front and rear with Secret Service on horseback following along side of them down river.
Best guide on the Delaware River System hands down was the late Jimmy Charron.
