Any Reports from the Southern Lake Ontarion Tribs

Walter H

Stalking Mr. Brown on the Fly
Has anyone fished the Southern Lake Ontarios tribs yet this year, or heard any reports yet? I want to try new water this year away from the SR chaos.

Yeah. I know it was posted a while ago. I also have friends living up there that keep me posted on the fishing scene. Thanks

Hey CrackerJack, Thank you for actually replying to the post. (Most appreciated) I origionally posted this thread during the salmon run because where I normally go in the fall was a complete snagfest this year because of the low-water conditions. I never fished the tribs between Rochester and Buff, so I was curious what was going on. With the obvious lack of replies from earlier in the season, I just dealt with the "lead chuckers" between Watertown and Oswego.

Actually I'm doing a hosted trip this weekend up to the SR, and I was thinking about heading out to Oak Orchard after the event. You just saved me quite a few gallons of gas!!!!!!! Thanks Again, Walter!

No problem. I don't even fish for the salmon anymore. Steel rainbows and browns. I like when the fish actually try and eat the presentation rather then get snagged in the back by it. I actually had a king go after my fly on my last trip. Pretty aggressively too. I stood up and spooked em just before he grabbed it. It was pretty late in the season and most of em were close to being spent. I couldn't justify letting him use the last of his energy on me. Better off making it to spawn. Even though I regretfully go home without a fish ever taking the line. I prefer keep my conscience healthy knowing I did my part to preserve the species. Can't wait to get up there again. My friend has been killing the browns. He landed a 17# three days ago. Lucky bastard lives less then a minute from some private water. I gave him his first fly rod last month and now he's addicted!
