IMO thats like me saying if a bamboo rod doesnt have a UL NS reelseat with the words "Goodwin Granger" Or "Wright Mcgill" stamped into the reel seat it's not a quality bamboo rod...

I only said it was my opinion. That how i would like a bamboo rod if i was to own one. I think i simple reel is needed to compliment the 'boo. Like a Medalist or Featherweight. Just nothing overly fancy. To each their own, no need to knock someones perception of how a bamboo should be built.

Agates look nicer but carbides are more durable. It's up to the individual as to which is better. All of my personal rods have Mildrums or Perfections for the stripper but most of the ones I've made for other people have agates.

I do the same thing with my personal rods.. Mildrums or perfections the only route I'll go for a boo that's a fishing rod...
IMO agate is only for the rods that will stay in their tube and be fished a handful of times a year....
I seen agates with hairline cracks in them too many times to take a chance with them myself...
