2014, the year of the tick.

Maybe it's just bad luck, but I've been fishing and hiking about 12 times this year so far and every time I've found multiple ticks. Last night found two embedded. Anyone else noticing there's more than usual? Anyone have any good homemade repellants?

I bought "Sawyer Premium Permethrin Clothing Insect Repellent Trigger Spray" from amazon last year and didnt get a single tick after I used it. I know it's not a home remedy but it was definitely effective

I grew up in one of the worst places in the country for deer ticks and the only thing that was legally available that actually worked was (believe it or not) Avon Skin-so-soft. It smells awful but it works great. Amazing that it was marketed as a "beauty" product.

Yeah, I think I've still got a bottle of that laying around, kept the Mosquitos at bay too

this is the way to go, I'm in the pines and it's tick heaven here. Permethrin is tits. Just remember its a treatment and doesn't go right on ur skin, gotta apply to clothes and allow to dry.

Shoofly is the best repellent I have used to date. It is all natural no chemicals. It is amazing for mosquitos black flies. I use it up in The Adirondacks and is notorious for black flies. The stuff works fantastic.
