Fly Tying: San Juan Worm

Hello all! Just bringing you the latest video from Whip Finish Industries. In this video, we go over how to tie the San Juan Worm. Great for fly fishing in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and parts of the Catskills! As always, if you can leave us feedback that would be great. We're always looking to improve our videos for our viewers.

Thanks for posting such an informative video. I could never figure out how to wrap a piece of chenille on a hook. I'm sure it will help many of the guys here.:nose-picking:

Not everyone is an expert. There's nothing wrong with trying to help people who might not be as skilled as you. After all, everyone has to start somewhere.

Totally agree with you.

Perhaps you could publish a series of tying videos covering all of the worm variations, to GB mag exclusively.

Any interest in that?

Usually on a shoot day, we'll spend the entire day filming a month's worth of videos and they're planned ahead in advance. I'll try to get in touch with Ben beforehand though to see if he can do that!

It appears that you have to pay to see all your videos? I ask how is this working out, with all the free info on YouTube and the net in general, are people paying to see your videos???? I mean I can got to GB magazine to fill my head with Fly tying knowledge, have you seen his alternative materials video?!?!?!?:)

Our videos are specifically for fly fishing in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Ben's a professional guide that is an expert fishing in those areas so he knows what flies work and don't work because he's on the stream almost every day throughout the entire year. Not everyone has the time to figure out what flies they need in their box. We also provide an easy way of purchasing the exact same materials that are used in our videos. If you'd like to give us a chance, I can message you a coupon code for a free one month membership for our website.

Repulicans, Democrats, Whipfinishindustries..they're all crooks

I'm only kidding Whip...If you can make money from it I have nothing but respect

That is very nice of you, but totally not necessary....I wish you well in your endeavor.......good luck...does Ben guide out of a shop, or does he do it alone?

I looked.....it's a well thought out web-site.....professionally done....the flies will catch fish...If I am going to pay, the flies need to catch fishermen as well, and be a bit more than functional...I am by no means saying I tie any better......................I also have books and experience that leads me to choose the flies I use during the months in NJ...I am not putting the site down at all, just all this information is free, or in books, if you are willing to look...I wish you nothing but luck and success, this is just my opinion....but I am not investing.....thanks...good luck!!!!!!

PM me, whipfinishindustries...I want to buy you a beer, or scotch for the free offer!!!

I'm thinking that by now these guys should be talking to DC about paying for their posts.........:)
I'll tell you what typically happens with stuff like this.

A promoter (whipfinishindustries, troutnut.com, and others for example) will post some very nice useful posts, pictures, videos, then ask about a site sponsorship. In the meantime, they'll continue to post video links and photo's like how to tie a worm, etc... Then I send them the sponsorship info they asked for and I never hear from them again.

I normally don't even get a "fuck you, your prices are too high"... Essentially, the asking of the sponsorship is to keep me quiet while they ponder the thought and flood the site with more "free" stuff that you can click on in order to get to their paid stuff.

and that, ladies and gentlemen is how whipfinished products will get popular (not through their hard work, but through mine and other sites like this one!). Amazing.

Personally, the only companies I sponsor are the ones with banners on this site:

Delaware River Club
Hatch
Simms
Gene and Ines shuttle service
West Branch Angler
Royal Wulff Products
RIO
SAGE
Readington
GoPRO

DC, I did not forget about your message. I have a meeting planned early next week to discuss having a sponsorship opportunity here. It's currently in the works, just have some hurdles to get through first :crap: Hope ya understand!

Ben is a good host. I sincerely like him, from the shows and I also met him at the boat ramp at Shehawken a few months back.

While he was taking out, he let me cast his self made bamboo rod. It cast beautifully.

The only thing I'd change in your videos is the bright white background. It isnt good.

Otherwise I like it.

I'm currently talking to Ben about taking on viewer requests for flies! You guys should see an update from me very soon :)

Let me offer another suggestion.

Lightenup is right about fly tying videos.

You need more than that.

Post some videos of Ben making a boo rod and teaching how thats done.

While I will pass along your suggestion to Ben, you have to keep in mind that our site is meant for fly tying and fly tyers. That is something we could possibly do for our YouTube channel. On another note, viewer requests are currently being accepted in a new thread that I've made on this board :)
